Auto Meter Fuel Sender RECALL

After going blind searching through the... ... (here we go)... Amsoil threads I think I've decided to give it a try. From what I understand, if I only run it to the recommended 7500 miles before changing it is going to cost the same as what I am already spending so why not give it a shot. Now I read so many things that I can't remember what is what so here is my situation. I ran Rotella T and changed religiously at 3k-4k miles until the last change where I tried the Rotella synthetic. I didn't notice any leaks with it but as I understand it is not a full synthetic. With just over 60k on the truck now should I expect leaks or should it be ok?

Hi RO'neal it has been my experience that the leaks will may develop after you do an engine flush. The flush will clear out any of the junk the was sealing the leak. Bottom line is that the Amsoil will not make your truck leak. Also are you going to run 5W-30 or the 15W-40?

I'll post my own personal experience when switching from Delo 400 to Amsoil. Take it for what it's worth...

Used Delo 400 15W-40 exclusively until ~30K miles, changing both oil and filter at 4K mile intervals.

Went over to Amsoil Series 2000 15W-40 Heavy Duty Diesel & Marine and Amsoil SDF80 full flow oil filters at that point. Before switching, I used 2 cans of Amsoil engine flush first, as was recommended by Amsoil, just to be safe. Followed directions on engine flush container.

Ever since going to Amsoil, I now change oil every 10K miles, filter every 5K. Using just the one, full flow filter to date. Have done Blackstone Labs oil sampling since truck was brand new.

Total miles on truck to date: ~63K.

Not a single drop of oil has ever leaked from anywhere on my engine, have never been one drop low on the dipstick either.

Guess I've just been extremely lucky :D

Oh, maybe I should have mentioned the following as well:

* I run Amsoil Series 3000 5W-30 in my 6 speed. Been in for ~30K miles, never leaked a single drop, not even where the FastCoolers attach.

* I Run Amsoil ATF in the transfer case, been in for ~40K miles, with one change so far, and it has never leaked. No FastCooler on t-case yet...

* I run Amsoil series 2000 75W-90 gear lube in both front and rear diff, with MagView covers. Only leak I have ever seen is a very slight weep in the drain plug on the rear diff.

Amsoil stuff...

Amsoil has had a true synthetic oil longer than most of the oil companies !! Sort of like a diesel engine, lots of folks hesitate to switch. . but in time the champions emerge. How come most of those other guys are now offering synthetic oil ?? You will notice when you drain it, even though it may be black in color, it still feels as "oily" as it did on the day you put it in. Their secret is in the recipe, compare their "Four Ball Wear Test" results...

BTW. . if you are using a stock air filter set up, give that 2 stage filter a try. I just put one in mine, (to replace the stock filter which was only in there for about 3000 miles), the difference was obvious right away !!

I have 3 vehicles, all are diesels and all use synthetic oil. My MB has over 325 K, my last VW TDI had 225K before I sold it to a neighbor, (it now has over 300K)!! My new one has nearly 100K already and tears up the road.

The used 97 Dodge I recently purchased (with 88k on it) will be completely switched over this week !! No, I don't own the company, it's just good stuff and what sold me was the fact that they show the specs and don't leave you guessing about what you are buying !!
