whats the worst case scenario if i dont add the friction modifier fluid to the limited slip rear end after a fluid change?



my "limited slip" rear end is not so limited anymore and slips out of lockup more than i would like to see
 
Just like JFinke said, it will get ugly real fast. Those clutches will grab and fight each other until they destroy themselves. Use only the Dana friction modifier, the best on the market IMHO. I used it in a built 9" Ford with an Auburn HD limited slip, worked great. By the way, that generic stuff they sell at pep boys or whatever DOES NOT WORK!!!
 
Friction Modifier

One shop when changing my diff. fluid did not add modifier. I then added it later and it only helped slightly ( 2 tubes). Changed again later and did not want the limited slip to grab so put one pint of STP in diff with the fluid. Slicker so the clutches would not grab. Worked for a while. 20,000 miles later she is grabbing again and I have a noise that I am told is the rear end going out. Next step is complete rebuild of the rear end or replace. This is a Dana 70 SRW one ton. I will replace entire unit with newer Dana 80 and go to the duals at the same time. :{
 
About 30,000 miles back, I switched to Valvoline Synthetic blend for my LSD - worked great right outta the bottle - but today I checked LSD function by putting one rear wheel over in the snow with the other in gravel - and the snow side spun while the gravel side did not - looks Like time to go back to the DC stuff... ;)
 
Ford and D/C additive is the same stuff. Ford converted to the non smelly additive formula a few months before D/C. The smelly additive is no longer available... ... ..... save the whales issue is what I heard.
