I haven't been unhooking mine, mainly because I just don't think of it most of the time. I imagine doing so would help reduce wear. That's probably why they included the unhook feature.

I only have about 5600 miles so far, with over half towing the RV.

I have mean't to But at this time most of the time I am driving my truck I am pulling my utility dump trailer. I have mean't to find away to support the cable when it is removed from the Jordan.

Anyone have any trick way they are doing this?

Bill

I used to unhook mine when I knew I wouldn't be towing for a while, but in the last year and a half it's been hooked up all the time, no ill effects for far. I usually know plenty ahead of time when I'll be using the fiver, but the GN flat and livestock trailers are anybody's guess, so it stays hooked up all the time now.

I used to lay it off to the side on the back side of my knee panel, but once in a while it would drop down, usually after hitting a good bump unexpectedly.

Just wondering how many of you unhook the brake cable when not towing. Why or why not?

Thanks,

Steve
I un hook cuz its easy to do and I don't tow that much, I just figure why put the added wear on the box as if I was towing 100%.

I was going to glue a magnet behind the back side of my knee panel, but figured the magnetic field might just interfere with something. When I am in town and thinking about it I will look for a spring type clip to hold in in place.

i unhooked and unplugged mine, i put about 2400 miles on it about 9 months ago and haven't had any need for it since but it's less then a minute from being ready to go the way i hooked it up

I have my 2020 mounted in the cubby hole below the a/c controls (2006+) The cable makes a severe s-curve under the dash. I can hear it moving when I press the pedal but it works perfectly every time. I have never unhooked it either. :D
