? for MTX thunderform owners.

I need a new sub enclosure since some one decide to steal mine and I want to know what you thought about the thunderform. I had a Mtx thunderform under my back seat for a couple of years but it had some crappy JL audio subs in it. Do you guys with mtx's like it or did you fine something better.

Depends on what you're looking for. The Thunderform enclosure in not near rigid enough to make audiophile class bass. I use it with RF subs, but it sounds pretty muddy compared to MDF enclosures I've tossed on the seat. At higher volume levels the ends of the box are really vibrating. I'd buy it again though now that I'm too old and lazy to build a good custom box and want a rear seat. Unless things have changed in the last few years, I don't think MTX subs will make it any sound any better.

do a search on ebay for a "foxbox" I have one and run 2 10" alpine type-r subs with a PDX 1. 1000 amp... Now I need to update the door speakers from type-s to some component jobs. This thing pound pretty good.

A buddy of mine has a MTX thunderform and it sounds good too...

I have one in my 02, and as far as I'm concerned it sounds good. I have some Polk subs in mine (don't remember which ones). If I had to do it all over again I would probably be happy with an underseat tool tray again. Ahhh, the younger days... .

I had installed a JL Audio Stealthbox under center cushion in front seat. Am very impressed with it. I think it is a 10 or 12 inch woofer. .

I used the JL stealthbox that replaces the center seat but reuses the top storage console. It has a 13. 5" sub and sounds great. See the link: Stealthbox



I think the power rating is incorrect though. It is rated at 400 watts, but I have mine connected to a JL 500. 1 amp.

I like it but it is for 3rd gens.

TJ that box is made for the 3rd gen's but thats not stopping me from putting it in my truck. I have one (med slate grey) and a center section (dark slate grey) out of a wrecked 03 that are going in. There are some brackets Ive had to redesign to do it but to get rid of this POS flip top console and go to the new style... . plus a 13 yeah its worth the work. I'll send you some pictures when its done. I have to say that I am not unhappy with the 2, 10" Infinity Kappa's firing forward under the rear seat. The box fits well , is all MDF and sounds great. I just wanted to change the system a bit.

I like it but it is for 3rd gens.

They do make a model for 2nd gens if you want to keep your center console. ,

The air space in it is quite limited to keep it under your factory middle seat cover after stuffing a 12 inside it. Its a good sounding piece and Ive installed a number of their boxes, ALL top quality products. Knowing the performance of that box and wanting to do something different is what pushed me to do the 3rd gen mod.

Yep I really like my 12". I like to pull up next to ricers and crank it up and vibrate there doors off. But that's just me. .

I wouldn't buy a premade box. Have your local shop, like I did, build an MDF/fiberglass box that goes under the rear seats. I have it stuffed with poly and two aluminum 12's (Infinity Perfects). It is carpeted black and looks really good. The subs are counter sunk to level. It's removable and fits perfect. I spaced my rear seat up, which was not needed, an inch with rectangular tubing which turned my rear seats into fold forwards. I lift the seat up a bit, then the seat can fold forward revealing three amps on the cabin wall. Makes adjustments fast and easy. You have to loose the fold out cargo storage platforms.

i have been intrested in putting a sub in my truck. i would only like one under my rear seat i dont want to loose the whole under side of the seat. does anyone make a single inclosure for the 3rd gen rams? i dont want anything crazy maybe a 10' only pushing about 200 watts rms. just to add alittle bass to the truck.

i can help u here man!!!!

so i am really in to audio and i have a system in my truck running 3000 watts! so what kind of bass do u want? if u want good deep bass then u should go with mtx's 12in sub with a simple 300watt mtx amp it will push the sub very well. if u want a small amout of bass go with a 8-10 mtx sub with a 250 watt mtx amp it will sound awsome i am running a setup witch includes 2 12in mtx 7500 series subs with 2 kenwood 2000 watt mono amps wired in parralle 2000 to each sub and then i have a 15 frad cap to get all that power to the amps i also have other amps to run my componet speakers in the doors. all this off the factory battery and alternator the 15 frad cap does magic!
