I heard that the stock style lift pump is available at Napa anyone have a part # or does anyone have a source for them cheap...

Check out the Holley Blue thread. It's been posted that you can find this pump at Autozone or you'll find a link to get one online. Sounds like the Black one has a lifetime warranty.

The napa dealer i went to wanted 240. 00 for it. I told him that it seemed really hi and that i could find one on the internet for around 150. 00. He went back and did som fiddling on his computer and came back and said how about 162 plus tax. I figured that since he cout about 60. 00 off it with tax that i would take it.

They shouldn't ever try to charge you list for something at NAPA... I would have told them see ya later and went somewhere else. I'll find out cost on that pump this weekend.

Any chance some of you guys might know the # number for a 2000 model, of course im guessing the 24v engines use the same pump, but i could be wrong. . thanks in advance

RDHamill, I have. The original lift pump failed, and when I took it apart the pump was perfect, no scoring, nothing. I took my dremel to the crimp and found that the bushings were shot on the motor causing the armature to bind. 5000 miles later, the replacement pump failed, and again, the pump was like new but the bushings were bad. I'm on the third pump now, and so far-so-good! I read on the internet that these pumps had a rash of motor/bushing problems and carter modified them. There is supposed to be a way to tell the "good" from the bad by the part numbers, but I don't know what that is. If anyone knows, I would appreciate the info. Anyway, in my experience, the motor bushings are the weak links.

thanks LarryM, that's what I was wondering.

I might try to replace the bushings in the bad unit I have, just before I trash it.

thanks again

RDHamill, It will be pretty hard to replace the bushings or do any work to the motor on these pumps. There is a machine crimp around the unit that prevents your getting into the motor section. I had to cut the crimp to get mine apart, sort of a destructive analysis if you will. It can't be put back together after that, at least not that I know of :( . Also, there is no core charge for these pumps as I am told that they are not rebuildable. All of the ones sold are new units not rebuilt ones. They have us by the short and curleys and they know it!!
