The add-on cooler/extra capacity gadgets available for the 6-speed manual transmission are NICE - but *I* would like to see a version that included a small pump and spin-on filter element that would circulate a small percentage of transmission oil steadily whenever the vehicle was in use - could be an electrically operated pump OR a REAL genius might design a way a spur gear type pump could be driven off one of the available nearby internal gears... :D :D :D

Why not drive the pump off of the transmission yoke with a pulley/belt system like the NASCAR guys do for the rear end?

Interesting concept:)

I was just underneath my truck doing some checking for the pusher fuel pump install I'll be doing in a few days - and while under there, looked over the transmission to see what space and mounting arrangements could be used - MAN, LOTSA room down there - all very much up and outta the way of road hazards. The tailshaft drive suggested above would be easily accomplished, and fabricating a spin-on filter mount is no big deal. The lube lines could be the same grease-gun type some are using in the fuel pressure guage installs for ease and strength, and the lines could be EASILY routed well up and outta the way for safety.

Looks like the BIG issue, is a small, well built and reliable circulating pump of an appropriate size for the job - I'll take a look in McMasters & Carr, and Northern Hydraulics to see what they might have - any other potential sources, or ideas?

Drain? Drill the case?

I would advise against drilling your case for a drain plug. It is intended that you remove a center bottom PTO bolt to drain, put fresh thread sealer on and bolt it back in.

If you drill and tap your case it may no longer be an acceptable core and you may be stuck with you case for life or not give a core charge refund if you every put a refurbished box in.
