Doc, i found the key, internet settings... . Now , Do I add these dwords in that key itself, or do I add them to one of the subfolders inside internet settings???

XP BOMB

Yep! I won't be able to measure until I install a surf guage :D but browsing certainly seems considerably faster.

Compaq Evo N800v - P4 1. 8, 512mb Ram, XP Pro

Thanks Doc!!

hmm. i have not noticed it being any faster. . but i have noticed that my IE crashes a little more than normal when i have more than 2 browsers open

It definately made a difference on my XP Pro notebook computer which I use for work therefore it is excessively loaded up with applications and utilities. 1. 8gHz, 512mb ram, 32mb vram

The registry hack does not seem to have made much of a difference on the XP Home desktop computer. This unit has less RAM than the other however it is noticeably fasther, most likely due to the very light application & utility install as compared to the notebook. 1. 8gHz, 128mb ram, 128mb vram

Both tested on 56k dial up connection.

The hack did not make a difference with the notebook connected to a T1 connection.

I regulary have 3-5 browser windows open with 2-3 of them typically being active. I have not experienced any stability concerns.

Nick, did you remove the entries and regain stability?

Since my XP comp only gets connected to a T-1, then I guess I won't bother. Thanks for the update.

My grandparents comp only has a dial-up so I did it there, and it is... . ok.
