I have searched and search, but can't find the exact answers I am looking for. Hope someone can help me here.

First off, I can't find a post where someone can say exactly what size DV's are in the pump. . can someone clarify for me?

Second, what injectors should I go with when the time comes... . and money? Assume I will have at least an HX40 (thats what I am working on now)

Also, for you guy with fuel plates, can you tell me what size fuel plates you are using and let me know how you use your truck and what other goodies do you have to go with them?

I am looking for a plate I can use for heavy towing with stock injectors and turbo, but can also slide it forward when I get bigger injectors & turbo... . is there such a compromise as this?

Hopefully these questions can be cleared up and maybe it will help other 175 owners as well.

Thanks,

JD

A #10 plate will fill the bill on that part, the DV's are more than likely 151's but that is only a guess. 181's, 370's a #10 and an HX-40 would be a nice combo but you should have to worry about towing with it, if you think it will be an issue then install a valet switch.

Jim

Why the #10 plate..... mainly cause I will be towing?

I see on the TST site that the #10 is not rated and the #8 is rated at 230/605. Are you thinking of a 215 pump??? Need some more details please.

And also, what does a valet switch do and how can I install one? To me I am thinking that is over rides the fueling plate to keep the fuel down I guess.

Thanks,

JD

You can set the #10 plate so the fueling can start at any place in the rpm range you prefer. Remember the gov arm adjustment and the plate position is very important. That is where you set your fueling curve and your egt control. A valet switch is a great idea. You can set a towing level of power and a full fuel level for that occasional vette or stang!Your preboost screw on the back of your afc housing is your fine adjustment for the tow mode.

JD, I don't pay much attention to that chart, I can set a #10 for 900 degrees to 1400 on the same truck..... it's got a nice fuel curve.

Jim

I'll second the #10. When I installed my 370's I took out a #4 and replaced it with a #10 and have been quite happy with it. I have plenty of power for me and my driving and can pull my trailer faster than anyone has any business pulling a trailer.

If I bury the go pedal then I'll get 1300-1400 at the top of 4th and at around 80 or so in 5th, but once again, I don't feel that 80+ while towing a trailer is really a good idea.

I don't know what DV's are in my truck, but they seem to work with the 370's pretty well.

The 370's will give you the most bang for your buck, there are some that are more "refined" and don't smoke as much, and there are some that make more power, but dollar for dollar you can't beat 370's.

The valet switch is an electric solenoid valve that cuts off the boost signal to the AFC. This casuses the AFC 'foot' not to get out of the way thereby holding the governor arm off of the fuel plate.

I towed alot with just a #4 and had plenty of power, but did have to watch EGT's on a hard pull.

If you can make it down my way at some point, let me know and we can slap the #4 in for you to try out if you want.

Good Luck,

Mike

Cool cool, will do that then. I am still not totally sure what you guys are talking about, but will take your word for it from you more experienced guys and get the #10 and I will probably understand more of what you guys are talking about when I install the plate.

Will run with stock injectors and turbo for a while til I get a beefier clutch (13 1. 25 Con OFE) and get the transmission 3rd gear synch's replaced and installed fully splined shaft first, then the turbo and injecors.

Got to finish getting this truck apart and head checked out and back together first.

But when I get it back together, the 4,000 GSK and #10 should get me buy til the clutch, turbo, and 370's... . I hope. I am chomping at the bit to get this truck the way I want to. Oo.

Appreciate the advice,

JD
