For those running an Aero Turbine or MBRP mufflers..

I don't want something real loud, but extra noise won't bug me. How does the Aero Turbine and the MBRP mufflers compare in noise levels?

I installed the MBRP Exhaust 2 weeks ago today and I am very happy with it. The noise level isn’t obnoxious and it gives the truck a better sound.

Have had the MBRP kit with adaptor pipe from DPPI installed for about a month now. This also retains the catalytic cnv, it has very mild increase in noise(just enough to let you know it's not stock), but when you put your foot into it it'll growl enough that you know your defineitly flowing some non-restricted exhaust gases.

I cut the aero turbine off my truck, it was very loud, and didn't sound that great. Go with something else.

Next question..... who's the cheapest on MBRP mufflers and MBRP cat delete pipes?

I went with Mark Craig and DPPI, nice people, nice price. With my AFE stage 2, MBRP and Cat delete pipe, it is loud and obnoxious, but I like it.

I have the MBRP and like it. I got the cat test pipe and tried it along with the MBRP. It was a little too loud for me so I reinstalled the cat. I now want to try a resonator in place of the cat for a test. PS get some of those band clamps to replace the stock muffler clamps which Dodge uses, that way it's easier to remove and test different components.



Try Summit Racing about $8. 50. The nutplates are built-in.

Bill,



Being that you've tried it with and w/o the cat, what were your EGT readings both ways? I'm curious as to how restrictive the cat actually is?

Ark - I didn't really get to test it much without the cat. I wasn't towing anything at the time and reinstalled the cat about a day later knowing I had a long trip planned. Now that I have more fuel available I am somewhat concerned that I could eventually clog the cat so I"m wanting to try the resonator in place of the cat. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.



PS-

One point - if you do the install yourself be aware that the factory clamps are so tight they have deformed the pipes so much it's almost like a mechanical crimp. Most folks have been cutting the outer slipover portion of the connection joints to get the darn things apart. I ended up slitting the outer slipover pipe about half way around before I was able to pull the sections apart. Once it's apart I cut the crimped portion off the outer slipover pipe off then used 4 inch stainless band clamps from Summit racing. If you use these clamps you can take the system apart much easier if you want to change again. Hope this helps.

You've already got 4 inch pipes, save some money and get the MBRP or AFE 2004. 5+ muffler systems designed to replace the stock muffler. If you need more EGT drop add their cat test pipes as well. The stock muffler is a low in high out design and just getting a generic muffler makes for a PITA installation as you have to weld it in at an angle etc. These two systems bolt on easliy!
