I had to take some scrap metal down to a salvage yard the other day.

Mine is a stock 2003 3500 QC SRW SLT HO 6-speed 2wd.

On the way out empty with 1/2 tank of fuel and me in the cab, it weighed in at 6880 lbs. I do not have step bars, tow hooks or anything else other then the bed liner.

Mine was 7200 with me in it and a half a tank of fuel on the CAT scales. Funny I would have thought the 4WD would have added more weight.

HudsonHawk mine is the exact same config as yours and with 1/2 tank and no bedliner I weighed in at 6775 without me in the truck.

Yours is an ST with an Auto. The 6 speed weighs about 180 lbs more than an auto and the SLT has more options.

My 04 QC 6 speed has shipping weight of 7098. My 97 has similar equipment, except 5 speed, club cab, and has shipping weight of 6025 lb. Both are 4wd. Yet, GVW has gone up only 200 lb, from 8800 to 9000 for the 3/4 ton 2500. The measured weights around 6800 lb for 2wd and 7200 for 4wd for 3rd gen 3/4 ton Rams suggest that the load capacity has indeed decreased significantly.
