I have 125,000 miles on my 97 2500HD V10 with the 47RE. No problems whatsoever. Towed boats, fifthwheel, jet skis (not at the same time)and had a slide in camper. Always towed in So Cal and AZ deserts during the summer.

Changed transmission fluid once a year.

My 97 shifts smoother than my brand new 600. Although I only have 1500 miles on it.

i see it this way sticks are fine if thats what you like but last month when i was stuck in the NJ turnpike with my 30' camper it was nice just releasing the brake and rolling forward 10' and then stopping again and not having to worry about a clutch
