No need to go through ALL that. Just stop at any D. C. dealer,walk into service dept. Grab any service writer and ask them to print out the in-service date,selling dealer and warranty's. they can pull it up in a few seconds and print it. It will give all of the above info including remainder of factory warranty,extended warranty if its a D. C. policy and ANY restrictions.

Seems awfully fishy to me. I have had the particulars insofar as mods installed in my signature and have posted many times on various mods. I have also been to the dealer numerous times with all those parts installed in plain view. No hiding anything. Never recieved such a communication. Nor have I read about anyone else on this forum or the DTR recieving such a letter. Nor could a search bring up any posts from someone who had this happen. Maybe your the first and we all have a letter on the way. That would certainly be a new twist.

Holy crap, I sure do hope not. I am gonna go to the dealer for service this week and do what DPKetchum suggested and find out if this is bogus or not. If this is some kind of elaborate joke, somebodys ass is gonna be in a very large sling!

I have a good sense of humor, somewhat warped my wife tells me, but I find no humor in this at all!!

Lord knows I hope this isn't something they are gonna start doing to everyone!!

\:rolleyes: :confused:

If ANY restrictions entered it will be on that read out. Its was mandatory that EVERY vehicle that rolled in that door have one pulled and attached to the repair order. Saw LOTS of autos with NO warranty come in. Flood damaged etc. Folks would come in with 10k on a car with 3 or 4 problems wanting warranty etc. Knowing they bought it at auction WITH NONE.

not to be a thorn in your side but if you did up the power and you smoke the trans YOU should foot the bill not DC.

If you cant pay dont play. DC clearly states that any power uprating may void your warranty. By choosing to made modifications, you are choosing to become your own warranty station.

It sucks when guys deceive the dealer for illegitimate warranted work 'cause it makes it harder for everyone to get the legitimate work covered and pushes the prices of trucks up.

It is not right for DC to exclude your trans if there is a problem such as electrical or something not due to the extra power but you should not try to deceive them

Come now. D. C. and other manufactures kinda been deceiving us for years and I worked in Dealers for 25 years. Don't give the guy a lecture. I for one CAN'T STAND BIG BROTHER watching over MY shoulder. Or anyone else for that matter. If that letter is for real I too would like to heck know how his info was found out. Theres lots of ISSUES the manufactures kept from the PUBLIC for decades. Ford with their 6. 0 ought to be hung out to dry! Someone gonna get killed in one of them with stalling and dead pedal issues. D. C. has a HUGE profit area in trucks. Let them fix some trannys. Back in the late 60s I was told the Pontiac dealer I worked at had MANY a GTO/Firebird come in on Monday morning with the shoe polish numbers STILL on the windshield and G. M. told them to FIX them with a smile. Mopar dealer next door was doing the SAME thing. So now its TRUCKS. :-{}

yeah ... we wouldn't want to decieve mother mopar

just look at how honest and forthright she's been about lift pump and vp 44 problems in second gens...

oh and how friendly and helpfull most dealers have been about third gen vibration issues ...

or the atf+4 that is only available at immoral prices from the dealership ... which by the way is illegal

i'm lucky enough to have a great dealership to deal with ...

but i seem to be in the minority here

There is no need to point this out. Honest folks dont steal and dont need to be told not to steal. A thief knows hes stealing and the thought is wasted. Like I said, I go in with all mods at full sail. I dont steal from others and I wont tolerate others stealing from me. While it is stealing to try and take a warranty repair that isnt rightfully coming, it is also stealing if they try and deny converage because of mods when they are not the cause or contributing to the problem.

I guess what I'm fed up with is guys crankin' up the power, towing way more than they should, and not upgrading things like the transmission, and then expecting the dealer to fix it. It seems as if the dealers are making it harder to fix things, and I wonder if it's because of the number of fraudulent claims.

I agree with you on the whole sending the letter thing... and how they found out the information is BS, if they did get the information off this website.

I also agree with you about the whole Ford Powerstroke thing. Ford should be hung. Could the dealers be taking an "eye for an eye" approach? I just feel like people should be held accountable for their actions; whether it be the dealers or the consumers.

On another note, you ask some people that will have some type of performance chip on their truck (be it Chevy, Ford, or Dodge), what type of EGT's they see, and they say, "What's that?" Those people should leave their trucks stock.

Well, for what it's worth, the Edge is set on level 2, where it will stay. When I bought the truck, the salesman told me it was the HO, 307hp 555tq, well, it is the SO engine. I set the EZ so I now have 300hp and 640tq. I don't tow overweight, don't race, don't burn the tires, just drive the truck like an adult (mostly!). I am not trying to rip DC of for anything. But if it breaks, it won't be because of the EZ.

You see, I got screwed when I bought the truck and it is going down hill from there!!

:rolleyes: :-{}

I think the letter was spawned by the spirit of your transmission post. I guess you pi$$ed off some dealer mechanic type that knew how to cook your goose.

I would not even be surprised if they don't even offer a reward for vehicle warranty exclusions.

If you Play you Pay!!! it sounds like you got ripped by them bating and switching with the High Output for a Standard Output and that I would be pi$$ed and rightly so!!!

If you are having trouble with Dodge they probably did you a favor by excluding your tranni there are several vendors you can find here that will build the transmission you really need. If Dodge fixed your tranni it would probably just break again anyway. You really want a better tranni I see lots of guys around here over 500 HP to the ground with built up trannis screw Dodge why would you want the same Junk again?

I know with my 5-speed the clutch is Junk they only warrant the thing for 12K or one year there is no way I would put that stock junk back in my truck even if they did it for free. That would be like buying and extended warranty so I could get some factory shocks replaced when they wear out :rolleyes: :--)

Well when SALES are slow is when MANUFACTURES get tight on warranty. When UP they spend. Its always been like this. But cutting costs like no under-hood lights etc. Thats CHEAP. Or their customer service 1800xxx and you get someone who knows NOTHING about NOTHING. There all the SAME. They BUY more needless warranty to try to placate then they do fixing things that are REAL problems. Over the years I could not begin to give examples of the THOUDANDS of dollars spent on warranty that was used to just placate someone when there was NO problem to start with. Ywet someone slightly out of warranty with a KNOWN repeated problem gets the WELL its out of warranty don't hassle us again.
