2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission ? for you tire people

The 265/75 Michelin tires have maybe 7,000 mi. on them and I can't figure this out. I was running 45 psi on all 4 tires, but I decided I wanted to run alittle more in the front. I pumped the front to 55 psi, went on a trip of about 250 mi. , then checked it again and it was back down to 48. I decided I would watch it to see how low it would go. It got back down to 45 and then stopped. Why will my tires not stay inflated above 45?

Try checking your tires at the same tempeture (if you haven't already). As they roll down the road they will heat up and consequently heat up the air in the tire and the air will expand making higher pressures and just the opposite when they cool down. You can also take a spray bottle with soapy water and spray down the beads and valve stem and check for leaks from the bubbles.

Make sure you have High Pressure Valve Stems. If they are the standard stems they will not hold the pressure.

I checked them both times when they are cold. I'm not sure about the high pressure stems. How do you know if you have them or not?

High pressure stems can have a rubber "pull through" base but the upper portion of the stem will be brass.



Try running the psi to 60 in the AM before you drive. The next morning drop them to 55. If they don't hold you have other problems.
