Ford 190HP FD-1060 6cyl Diesel

Is the Ford Diesel FD-1060 190HP engine a Cummins 6BT 5. 9?? Its in a 1994 Ford F-700 Medium Duty ambulance. From what I gather on the internet... its seems some refer to it as the Cummins Ford 6BT or the Ford 5. 9 6BT. I know Ford made a 7. 8L inline but I'm not too up on what all they made overall.



If it is, are similar bombs applicable to it as they are a 1994 Cummins Dodge (mild bombs that is)? My Vol. Fire Dept is looking at it. It only has 40,000 miles on it and has been maintained very well.



We almost bought a Cat 3116 Chevy Kodiak ambulance two weeks ago but got beat to the deal. I hope I dont miss this one as were in need of a newer truck to be used as a rescue. I'd rather have this one anyway if the engine is actually a Cummins.

If it's a Cummins there should be a data plate on the driver's side of the front gear case. If it's there it will tell you about the engine. It should have six valve covers if it's a 5. 9 like the 89 thru early 98 engines in our trucks.

Did a search on the net. Everything that I found came as "yes" to your ?. There is also a FD-1460 that is the 8. 3L Cummins.

Yes it is 5. 9 Cummins. They also have a 1460 which is a 8. 3. I have trucks with both at work.
