Forum for Ford only problems???

A non-politically correct view on Global Warming (TM)

One of the techs from work was at training last week and one of the fellow techs worked for a Ford/Dodge dealer. He said that when the new 6. 4's were doing the cleaning of the DPF there were flames coming out of the tail pipe. I guess they have had more than one come back already due to the flame thrower syndrome.

Thought you all might enjoy hearing the 6. 4 is carrying on in the 6. 0 tradition of problems.

For more info, check the General Diesel Forum. A video is there too of a Ford 6. 4 with a bad injector, and the flames. If the DPF gets any flammable liquid on it, it is going to burn it. Like designed, except, nobody really considered a leak turbo bearing, or a leaking injector...

Like,,, maybe,, Cummins? :) Now that would be awesome.

Dodge's Contract with Ford does not restrict who Cummins sells the 5. 9 or 6. 7 to. Ford can buy them, and can install them, infact, they do, but only in teh 3-ton trucks. . like the 650 and 750.

I guess we can call them Fire-250's and Fire-350's ? A new line of F-Series trucks. :)

Cummins? That will never happen.

Heard threw the grapevine that Ford was thinking of making there own blueoval diesel said something like 700 ft lbs of torque ?anyone else heard that?

I got a hint for all'y'all, it ain't the engine manufacturer with the problem. ITE makes world class engines, and Ford wanted a cheaper engine, so ITE gave them what they wanted, a cheaper (read "lesser") International engine. Granted, these aren't DT466s, but having grown up "bleeding IHC Red" I know that the ITE diesel engines are real beasts by design. (V8 392 gas was a dog, though) Parts aren't cheap, either.

Does Ford Own Cummins???

The salesman at the Murfreesboro Ford-Lincoln dealer swears Ford owns Cummins. I looked him straight in his eyes and said I'll put one million dollars on the table against his ten thousand dollars that Ford does NOT own Cummins.

He backed down immediately and said he would check into it.

The thing everyone is missing here is that Ford is now run by Allen Mualley who used to run Boeing's commercial division. Allen is just using he background in jet engine technology to increase the Ford's performance. :-laf
