Competition Ouch!!!

Last night at the local fair they had truck pulls with the big boys and they also let all the daily drivers. Daily drivers went before the big boys... .

Anyway there were a couple different classes 5k and under gassers and 7k and above diesels... . Well there were quite a few stock pullers and there were a couple beefed up dodges a couple that i know of dyno'd at 450+ HP with twins and bunch of other supporting MODS... . They didn't do to bad, then all of a sudden a 08 Ford F-450 with a flatbed on it completely STOCK hooks up and i'm thinking yeah right we'll see how far he goes... . He ended up pulling farther than anyone there in that class..... I was AMAZED..... Couldn't believe it... ... . Still don't understand how he did it but it was pretty cool to see STOCK truck go that far... . Just though i would share

With the kind of money he has in that truck new you could have a built dodge 2500..... I would expect something from my $50K !

Any video?

If i had known they were doing pulls at the local fair i would have gotten video..... This was the 1st annual Les Schwab truck pull, so next time i will be sure to get video if this is something thats gonna be here every year... .

Those 450's are geared like a bulldozer... . it should pull down a house, I think they have like 4. 30 or 4. 80 or something.

I doubt the 6. 4 will ever come close the the cummins. But read all the magazine articles for the 2010+ cummins they say they will go to a v-8 diesel to pass EPA crap

how is a v8 going to be any different in emissions then an i-6. With that thinking, the same emissions for the bigrigs will have to go to a v8 as well? You thing that will happen?

It's just a romour, they said they would drop in Benz diesels in the Ram years ago when the C become a DC. The closest they got was the transmission and that was cuz NV went under.

I suspect what ever Cummins figured out for the bigger motors will retro fit down to the smaller B very easily.

cummins is making a v-8 for the half ton crowd ...

straight six is good to go already for the new emmisions ...

and my freinds f-450 weighed 9200 lbs on the scales with him in it ... i was stunned

it's a much better TRUCK than the dodges we drive ...

drivetrain is a whole nother matter ...

if you ever get a chance crawl under one sometime ... .

they have a new, bigger dana 60 in the front ... much bigger

and the dana 135 rear dwarfs anything dodge has to offer ...

it's a towing dream ...

and his fourdoor long bed takes the tight switchbacks on my driveway easy ...

to just get in and hook up to a heavy load this thing really is the way to go ...

jury is still out on the twin turbo motor for sure ... but it's out on the new smog ridden, computer laden 6. 7 cummins as well ...

Now that Mercedes-Benz isn't a part of the Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep family I bet they'll stick with who they have for a motor supplier. .

Why would Cummins need to go V8 to meet 2010 emissions standards when the current 6. 7L already meets them???

Hahahaha, that's funny. They claim 26,000# GVWR right? if hte base truck is 2000#'s more then any 350/3500 truck, that would negate any extra "real" weight it can move in addition to the truck it self.

i can say, i have a ram 2500 four door short box and a ford f250 four door short box, both 4x4, the ford is a pile but you cant break it, i try every day, with 115,000 on the clock, my dodge sees the garage way too much with 62,000 on it, i want a 450 with the 305/555... .common rail... oh yeah, 90 percent of the ford is off road and the dodge is 95 percent on pavement, i think the ford got a battery once, and still gets the same mpg as when it was new, the dodge well we wont go there cause i love my ram...

We saw two 6. 4 fords at each pull we went to this year. My buddies basically stock 99 5speed beat both of them. I'm not stock so I won't compare my pulls to thiers, I was not impressed at all.
