Why/How is the Cummins in our trucks so "underworked"?

If they offered an ISB in the Ford I wonder

hehehehe,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,for the local upcoming dynoday we have dodge, gm, and fard dlrs lined up to bring the latest samples of their products to dyno for a comparison. well,,,,,,,,,,,,the fard dlr infrmed me that now they will not attend. he said he is in fear that due to the serious issues they are havin w/ the 6. 0, it would prlly go tu on the dyno,,,,,or,,,,,,on the way to the dyno. that dont say much for the 6. 0 huh

I saw on of those new 6. 0s setting beside the road dead this morning on my 35 mile drive to work. Goes back to the old saying. Found On Road Dead. :D

A friend of mine just got his 6. 0 bought back and he got another one. I saw him over the weekend and asked him how this one is and he didn't smile or anything just said "it runs..... for now. " He had nothing but trouble out of the first one. I'm kinda nervous because he is supposed to pull our float through the homecoming parade tomorrow:eek: . I will be taking my truck for backup I guess. Might have to pull him and the float to the end. ;)

Saw this one too- (backwards) Driver Returns On Foot

Does anyone know if the 6. 0 problems are solved for '04? He said the dealer told him "no more problems" so that is why he got another one.

I played in a horse shoe tournament last weekend, and one of the guys saw my new Ram, he said I was lucky. He told me he went to Las Vegas last week with a friend who owns the new Ford 6. 0, It just quit on the way home, half way between Vegas and Barstow, middle of the desert! Had to get a flatbed tow rig tow it all the way to the dealer...

This is a small county--pop 13000. Already heard of one guy having his 6. 0 engine and turbo replaced. I also heard that somebody from here took off to ALASKA with a big TT and a 6. 0! What are the chances he doesn't see a dealer or two on that trip? I'll find out. ;)

Another guy has one on order. He would have bought a Dodge if he could have gotten a Quad cab. Seems the quad died with them dinky door things they have out now. :p I told him about the injectors and all and wished him good luck.

update on the local 6.0 population

The guy who had the engine and turbo replaced had over 500 miles on it when that happened!

The guy who had one on order, got it. It won't idle, and he tried to stop payment on the check! He's giving them FITS about it. Ford deserves what he's dishing out to them. If HALF the Ford guys would get in their face like this guy, they wouldn't have put the 6. 0 on the market yet. I think he's checking the oil three times a day. ;)

The one that went to Alaska? No word yet. I don't wish him bad luck, but I do think the cards are against him.

I've had my hands on my fathers 2003 F250 with the 6. 0 for the past few weeks. Just a bit of history first. Bought new in March, engine was replaced at 2000 miles due to diesel in the engine oil. Its been back to the dealer several times for reflashes for engine and transmission. Now i have it for a few weeks. It has 10,000 miles on it.

First the bad.

1. )Every morning when i start it, it fails to start the first time, then when it does start the engine dies when i give it gas, this also happens when its warm somtimes.

2. )transmission shifts strange with a heavy load, 10,000+ when its being worked hard.

3. )Has many rattles, strange noises in the cab. Its a super cab.

4. )Engine is loud, much louder than the new dodge, my neighbor allready complained about it. Also rides much worse than the dodge.

5. )Very ugly truck, glad the windows are tinted dark.

6. )AC is the worst i've seen. With 3 people in the cab and the FL sun, it can barrely keep up on MAX high.

Now the good.

1. )Truck hauls ass, turbo sounds great.

2. )When not pulling over 5000 lbs the 5 speed transmission is very smooth, like driving a car.

I have it for a few more weeks, might take it to the FL keys this weekend with the boat, wonder if it will hold up?

:-laf, sounds like the cube van i drive at my second job. it down's 2 liters of oil a week. the mechanics my boss takes it to are incompitent [they said the carburator was broken, and it's a 93 5. 8L efi:rolleyes: ]

6.0 just won`t go!

Hey Muddy, Maybe someone can get hold of that guy "pappy" from diesel stop (?) & get him to blow up,oops, show up for the dyno day? He lives somewhere up in Garden Valley. Only 75 miles or so, not toohorrible of a tow bill to get him home. :D

Dyno

There is going to be a dyno event this Sat. in Paris KY and there is going to be a new Dmax, CUMMINS and a sick. 0 ford to be dynoed. cant wait

Thanks Vaughn !

Called Out? I merely drew attention to the fact that he says he has never been outrun/pulled by a Ram. 300 RWHP is more than my stocker(160) has (NOW) I just don`t remember ever seeing a PSD with a load of miles. The 2 people I know who own them both trade every 3-4 years. Maybe they know something? At any rate, if he can put 300 down, that ain`t shabby. I bought my truck to tow, and drive daily. That means it has to have enough power to get the job done, and LIVE. If it blows under normal use, something is wrong.

Well if he shows up I can show him a trucks that will send that joke running with it's tail between it's legs. I guess I need to drive the race truck around town more in hopes of running into him. :D

yeah,,,,,,,,i pm'ed pappy some time back when i saw a 'certain' post of his to see if he could show up. too bad he is out of area.

but,,,,,,,,,,,,, we have a probability of a bombed 7. 3 from burns who may show. the dude stated there aint a cummins around that can touch his psd. hehehe,,,,,,,,,,,another ford boy soon to be educated:D leastwise the guy is smart enuff to admit this is his last ford and next rig will be cummins/dodge. he wants NOTHING to do w/ the pos 6 ltr.

yep nathan,,,,,,,,,,,hope ya DO run across pappy. the boy needs an educatin he wont forget:D
