Ford and Chevs w/auto ?

Talking to a guy yesterday with a 00 cummins manual and the discussion led to autos. He asked if mine had a holdback feature in the trans. like The dark side. I never heard of this and hke says it's not an exhaust brake. Anyone know if this guy is correct? Thanks, Doc

The allison and Ford transmission are programmed to downshift and keep the TC locked to provide engine breaking as you slow down in TH mode, I believe they will do it once you touch the brakes and are going a certain speed. Or he could be referring to the GM LLY that limits power in 1st and 5th gear to protect the trans.

I believe yours does have a hold-back feature, just push the button on the end of the shift lever, and it should go in to 3rd gear and keep the TC locked.
