Ford Brazilian 7.8 ?'s

Does anyone have any experience with the Ford Brazilian 7. 8L's? A friend of mine has one and one day while driving it made a loud noise, he described it as a "backfire". Now it idles good but if you rev it up to 1200 rpm it smokes bad (white) smells like raw fuel, and shakes real bad, I was wondering if pump timing may be off, but dont know anything about these engines. If anyone has any experience with these or knows of any common problems please let me know. Thanks a lot.

Tell him to check the oil. See if there is any fuel is diluting the oil. If there is, it may be an injector sticking. Just a guess. This is assuming that there isn't an external leak somewhere, as in a loose line.

Don't know what to tell you but I drove an F800 with one of those motors in it and never had any problems but I did hear that they didn't last as long as other engines but the one I drove ran very well.



thats the engine ford should put in their pickups.

Thanks for the responses, after some investigating I found the exhaust side of the turbo in the muffler, so that explained that!
