That's great. Just love to see the   :--) :--)

when some DuraStroke owner puts a little too much faith in those numbers and gets stomped by a BOMBed Cummins. :-laf :-laf

What I thought was interesting was the difference in curb weight of the trucks.

2002 Chevrolet 3500 Heavy Duty

Extended Cab 4x4 dual rear wheel, Duramax diesel 6600 6. 6-liter, 6-speed manual transmission, 3. 73 rear axle ratio and a curb weight of 6970 pounds

2003 Chevrolet 2500 Heavy Duty

Extended Cab 4x4 single rear wheel, Duramax diesel 6600 6. 6-liter, Allison 5-speed automatic, 3. 73 axle ratio, and a curb weight of 6950 pounds

2003 Dodge Ram 3500 Heavy Duty

Quad Cab 4x4 dual rear wheel, Cummins High Output 5. 9-liter diesel, 6-speed manual transmission, 4. 10 axle ratio and a curb weight of 7927 pounds

2003 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Crew Cab 4x4, single rear wheel, Power Stroke Diesel 6. 0-liter, 6-speed manual transmission, 3. 73 rear axle ratio and a curb weight of 7188 pounds

2003 Ford F-350 Super Duty

Crew Cab 4x4, single rear wheel, Power Stroke Diesel 6. 0-liter, TorquShift 5-speed automatic, 3. 73 rear axle ratio and a curb weight of 7250 pounds

The Chevy dually was only 20# heavier than their single rear wheel, and still under 7,000#. The six cylinder Dodge dually is almost 1,000# heavier than the Chevy, and about 700# heavier than a Crew Cab Ford. Wonder where they cut the weight?

Using the weights above and the trap speed equation to calculate rear wheel BHP of the 6-speed trucks, it comes out to:

Without trailer:

Chevy 3500 - 243 BHP

Dodge 3500 - 235 BHP

Ford F-250 - 277 BHP

With 12,100 lb trailer:

Chevy 3500 - 232 BHP

Dodge 3500 - 254 BHP

Ford F-250 - 263 BHP

Interesting!

The F350 was a SRW not a DRW. The DRW weighs about 550 lbs more. My 99 sat on the scales at 7780 with a half a tank of diesel and NOTHING else in it or on it. The new engine is about 100 lbs lighter than the 7. 3. I don't know about the transmission difference... . CJ
