EBay Iteams....

I filled up yesterday, when I pulled in there was a 97 ford stroke on the other side of the pump. I get out to fill my truck and the guy with the ford kinda laughs and says hey you got a rod knockin in that dodge, him and his buddy get a good laugh, when they were finished I calmly said ya I know but the funny thing is I can still pull 20000 lbs up hill at 90 mph, go figure. Well he didnt want to visit after that. I finish filling up. I go on down the road and guess who pulls onto the road from the Sonic, mister power stroke. I dialed up the comp to 5, he slows down until I get behind him and then he tries to pull away. I just drove by blowing smoke and waved and smiled. Then I guess he decided he didnt want to play because hestayed about 100 yards back. I just love my truck :)

That is funny. The other night, I had a 97 PSD truck that blew by me when I was sitting at the light and when the light turned green. Anyway, I followed him for a few lights and it was red. I was in left lane and he was in the middle. The light turned green and I left him. He didn't have a chance. You'd think gauges and 5" exhaust tip would be a clue. . Go figure...

Swexlin good to see some Ford representation on this board, should lead to some "lively conversation" as this site is slightly biased towards Cummins :D. Personally I'd like to see more Ford/GMC input here to gain more knowledge about these engines.

Glad to give the Ford representation. LOVE my truck, but I like the Dodge, too. I traded a '97 2500 Club Cab V10 4x4 for this truck. The V10 was GREAT - very reliable - except it drank coolant - but I went and ruined it with a Paxton POS supercharger. Long story. Anyway, aside from the engine, it was the same truck and transmission as you guys, so I have a reasonable comparison.

Why didn't I get a Cummins? Because I wanted to try something different. I not, nor have I ever been brand loyal. Neither were my parents. I and my family have driven Ford, Pontiac, Jaguar, Mazda, and more.

I think GM, Ford, and Dodge ALL make a good product. All have their little maddening quirks, but, that's life.

swexlin, welcome, I have my Dodge for the same reason, I wanted something different, I had a 96 and a 97 stroke and before my dodge a 99 chevy with the 6. 0 gasser, a friend of mine bought a 2001 H. O. Dodge gave me a ride and the next day I was looking for one of my own. I then found TDR and went to the dark side of bombing. I havent been the same since. :)

Brett -

I've actually had 4 DC vehicles:

1. '94 Wrangler, 5 speed, 4. 0 liter

2. '96 Ram 1500 4x4, 360, reg cab, shorty, which I traded cause i wanted:

3. '97 Ram 2500 4x4, V10 Club Cab - which I'd still have if I hadn't bombed it...

4. 2000 Neon - still have, my "in town", short-trip grocery getter. I also use this vehicled when I can't (or won't) park the PSD - like in the city.

Evil GBall here I'm keeping an eye on ya'll too. I think you would get more response from us ford owner's if we didn't have to subsribe. . Luckily for me this GBall guy left a cookie on my comp. here at work so I can keep you guy's honest:--) Don't worry I always represent my self as EvilGBall so no one gets confused (insert evil laugh here)Not my truck below

so far, the consensus of our guys is the same, the gm guys love their duramaxes, the ps guys love their fords, and needless to say us dodge guys love our cummins. as one that has to deal with all of the above , as of now i would rate the cummins first, duramax second and powerstrke last. the duramax has so far been an excellent combination with the allison in the hd dually's we run. the powerstroke still has funny little quirks that pop up, [like not starting after sitting for two or three days unused, idling problems, and the flywheel blowing to pieces every 20000 miles] the duramaxes have'nt got the miles yet to brag about, but the truck surrounding them is far superior in ride and comfort than the fords. the beauty of our dodges is the simplicity of working on the motor, i. e oil changes etc. you can't even get a wrench anywhere inside the motor compartment with the others. this may all be lost in the 2003's but the heart of the truck still remains the best indicator for somone that plans on using and working with their pickup... and the dodge- cummins combo is still unbeatable, period.

Changing the oil and fuel filter on a PSD is a lot easier and cleaner than it is on a Cummins. The oil filter is very easy to get to as is the fuel filter which sits right on top of the engine. Anything else goes to the Cummins... . CJ

Bill,

I sure did get tired of Arlington. The City was fine but the traffic and BS was getting old. We moved down off 1187 between Mansfield and Burleson. It is a Fort Worth address, but is not in the City. I am on 12 acres now which is awesome aside from all the new yard work. My kids and I have been very busy the last few months getting the outside cleaned up. Four Wheelers, 22's and fireworks... they are in hog heaven. The wife even likes it... . now that the pool is finished. We are off to CO. tomorrow for a couple of weeks in the cool weather... CJ

It has been a couple of months since this took place. Heres the story. I was in my truck and stopped at the Shell in Bastrop where I get 99. 9% of my fuel. I was on the inside island next to the store. A little ole lady had filled her car up and went inside to pay(I guess she was paying with cash)This ford pulls up behind her setting there idling with a 5th wheel behind. He gets impaticent (heard this from the people inside)with her so he goes inside and ask them if he could move her car-NO. So he goes back to his truck and sulks. The old lady comes out gets in her car and leaves. Ford boy gives it all he can to move about 20' and stops shuts off his engine. He gets out and looks at me filling my truck(its still idleing) only about 3/4 in it gets back in his truck sulks some more(I guess). I have about 90% now. He gets out stands there by the pump(I guess I was suppose to stop filling mine and give it to him) then he goes inside and(they told me this after I filled up and went inside to pay) asks them inside if they could limit the amount of gallons I get-NO. He comes back out gets in his truck floors it leaving the station with 5th wheel bouncing behind. After I go inside to pay I tell them that fellow must of got ****** cause he left-then they tell me what he wanted to doThat was about like throwing a match in a can of gas I was ****** I was looking down the road hoping I would see him pulled over somewhere. All most forget about this.

"Cummings" not heavy duty enough

A guy I work with says he went with the Ford Powerstroke over the "Cummings" because he wanted a heavier duty engine. He thinks that it being a V-8 makes it more "heavy duty" then the Cummins. He's always making comments like "your truck sure has a lot of power for a V-6" and "this thing would have a ton of power if it was a V-8". He's looked under my hood a dozen times yet he still thinks it's a "V-6". I chuckled the other day when I walked by his truck and seen he had a case of Quaker State 5W-30 oil and a Fram filter in the back of his truck for his next oil change. My favorite comment of his was "if Cummings ever makes that thing with the power of a V-8 I might consider it".

It takes all kinds...

I used to get comments from the powerjoke guys in the local 4x4 club about how their truck had a 120 HP chip and how it would smoke my Cummins. I've invited them to the last two dyno days the local guys held and so far nobodys has shown up. They quit posting about their "power" when I posted my HP/torque results with DD2's and EZ.

People who don't have a clue are the ones that talk the loudest.
