Thanks, TDR Staff

Wow - now that's a pull off .... older APC vs

M416 project

I saw online that the Ford F-250 was rated one the worst vehicles for 2010. It did not mention if it was the diesel variant or not, but something tells me it was. I know one thing, as the years go by that truck takes on the sign of major ugly! Everytime I see a Ford Diesel on the road I want to stop them and ask why, why would you own one those things? If I could not own a Ram I would go with the GMC/Chevy before the Ford! :)

I agree with you 100%. They are butt ugly and then they put this big sign across the grill that says, "S U P E R D U T Y". My B-I-L bought an 08 with the dreadful 6. 4 L PowerJoke. He has had big problems with the engine.

Sorry to hear about your B-I-L, we will pray for him! When there is an engine as good as the Cummins out there, why would anyone buy a P/U with anything else in it! I have a friend of mine that was OTR driver and he bought a Ford Diesel (6. 0). I asked why would someone with his experience do such a thing?

I have to say you have put out a lot of Posts since you joined. :)

Are you going to may madness?

I've seen it here a few time, but tell me again, where and when is May Madness?

Consumer Reports rated it very low also and their tested truck was a 2500 diesel that got an "overall" 10 MPG!!! What is the point of a diesel if it will not achieve any better fuel economy than that?

Interestingly, the 1500 Dodge was "recommended".

I think the Sick. Ohh Furds could average must better fuel economy than those numbers. Their average was significantly increased due to all the miles they traveled on roll-back wreckers or at the end of a chain if the owner had a friend with a Dodge-Cummins.

I still chuckle about all the Sick. Ohh Furds I saw sitting alongside the interstates or on a roll back when I was tranporting. I ran across an oilfield electrician with a Sick. Ohh Furd pulling an old fifth wheel sitting on the side of the highway just past my farmhouse a year ago on a very cold winter afternoon. His company had transferred him from Odessa, TX to somewhere in OK but he didn't make it. I gave him a ride and a hot cup of coffee at my place while he waited for one of his buddies to reach him with another truck.

Last I saw him his Furd was heading back east on a chain and another of his buddies was pulling his trailer.

You better say lots of prayers for my brother-in-law. He and my sis were on their way to Bolder, Colorado towing a jeep on a transport with his 2008 Furd Powerjoke F350 SRW last Monday. They had just got over Raton Pass into Trinidad, CO when the engine quit. For those not familiar with Raton Pass, it is a long steep challenging climb into Colorado. He had AAA tow the truck and trailer to the only Furd dealer in Trinidad. The next day the chief mechanic diagnosed the problem as a totally shot computer system (ECM).

A new ECM was orderd from Denver or Albuquerque. I don't know what caused the problem and I don't know how long it will take to get the truck fixed.

Yep, that's true. Raton Pass is a "long steep challenging climb" that any old worn out high-mileage Cummins-powered Dodge Ram with a heavy trailer in-tow can easily ascend without a problem.
