AOL news -ford has a new fiesta ECOnetic diesel 5 passenger and claims 65mpg. it will only be sold in Europe. ford said only 3 % of vehicles sold in the states were diesel, Europe it was 50 %. they also state the engine is made in Uk- pound against dollar too expensive to import. at 65 mpg i would buy one! now... ... ... ... if we put two of those engines in our dodges would we still get 32? lol robert

I spend a lot of time in Europe, there is a whole bunch of nice diesel cars over there, that would do very well over here, and no they are not all the small econoboxes that we think they are. I just don't understand their unwillingness to bring them over here, specially now with the ULS fuel(quality). Of course, maybee this is what Big oil is worried about and one more reason to keep the diesel fuel price artificially jacked up.

I think the hesitation to import them is our outdated diesel smog requirements from the diesel-hating EPA and CARB. For instance, the Jeep Liberty CRD in 05 and 06 couldn't be sold in Cali and 4 other states, really limiting the market.
