You already know the most important thing... . It is NOT a Ford. :D Have fun with it and don't worry, the only mechanic it will probably see is you.
 
Being as your already a mechanic, you relize how hard ford looks over truck to see if there modified, dodge is the same way. Modify it and you will become your own warrantee station. Just like ford, even if the problem is not related, they can give you a hard time.

Don't just get the edge juice get the attitude control also it had includded guages and adjusts on the fly for more horsepower. I have one and only run it at the 3 level I hardly ever use race or extereme levels. :-laf Hardly ever!

What is this ring thing? I took off my tube today and saw a big sorta "+" thing running all the way down the tube, and what looked like an air diverter at the elbow before the turbo. Uhhh, help??



I don't recall where it is but there is some instructions on here about how to take that + thing out of that air tube. (check out a member that goes by Yo Hoot) Or, you could just buy a torque tube and simply replace it. AirAid also makes a replacemnet tube for these trucks. I have 1 of stock tubes that has been opened up and I have 1 of the Airaid's, if any one wants one or both PM me and I'll send it/them to you.



I tried both they worked fine I just had to have the torque tube. I also have a stage 1 AFE cold air intake. I took this off and put my stock air box back on and I am now using an Amsoil Ea Air Filter.

Brand loyalty aside, you made the right choice, the Cummins engine is far superior to the Ford or the Chevy.

Just keep it stock! :) You won't regret it, and you'll save some money besides. I have an 03' quad, and my grandson just purchased an 06' MEGA. N0w this is a real fine truck!

Thats funny you say that. . every time the owner of the dealership walks by, all my co-workers ask me (at a loud tone) How is that NEW dodge you bought... Its funny. . I really dont care what he thinks, whats he going to do, fire me... ya right!! I like to thank everyone for all there comments. . its nice to get a warm welcome... its feels like I found my home :D

Dodge dealers always need good Cummins Mechanics. The 6cyl is a lot easier to work on also.

Tell your co-workers that ask "how do your like you Dodge"?, "you wouldn't understand unless you drove it"!!! It's a Cummins thing... :-laf

Im not sure about that... i think the Cummins sounds WAY cool and can be built to make way more power than the SD. . the Fords just cant handle the aftermarket stuff too well... the only thing that I like about the Superduty, is the Transmission... the new torqueshifts are pretty strong. .
 
How about some guages. Depends on what your going to do with the truck. But might want to check on a fuel pressure guage, not to say you will have a problem but you can monitor some vitals. If your going to upgarde check into boost,pyro, trans guages.
 
I disagree. I am unfortunate enough to be in the position where I drive powerjokes around all day and I have yet to find a stock vs stock that will beat my 1 ton... :D I guess it could be the driver but to hear my girlfriend tell it I can't drive worth a darn.
 
I was a Ford guy too. Got rid of my 99. 5 F250.



One thing I miss about that 7. 3 was the way it drove on the highway. At 75 mph, it seemed to want to just boog on, with no strain at all and a very quite engine. I would start realy speeding if I didn't watch it.

The Cummins seems to have to be pushed pass that point and gets really loud.
 
Be careful with the sheet metal,,, the thinnest ever put on a pickup truck. . Past that, everything else is tip-top.



On a similar note,,, I picked up some flowers for my wife,,, I accidentally touched one of the petals agianst the bed of my truck,,, it dented the bed... :(
 
Good move on the cummins, I have a '03 f450 w/ 6. 0 (company bought) as my work truck. 135,000 2nd motor 3rd transmission. Thats what made me buy the dodge. Been a ford guy all my life, and I love the cummins. Only way I will drive a ford now is if it has a cummins in it. Might be a project in the future. :-laf Ford messed up going to the 6. 0. There is no replacement for displacement in respect to the powerstroke.
