Old news - been around for 6 months or more now - Ford and Navistar have had a falling out - over various production and labor issues I think...

I can't remember where I read the article but Navistar got real pi$$ed at Ford and threatened them with legal action. From what I can remember, Ford contracted with Navistar to develope a V6 diesel for the F150. After Navistar spent big bucks on the project, Ford killed the project and Navistar wanted Ford to reimburse them for the money they spent on it. I believe Ford paid the back a good sum of money after the threat of legal action. It was not mentioned in the article if the reason Ford cancelled was due to the 6. 0 debacle. Hmmmm! maybe?

It was before the 6. 0L was released when I read about them stopping the V-6 diesel project. Read about it in Four Wheeler magazine. They made it sound like a money issue at Ford.

Supposedly Navistar had 140 million ( or was it billion?) wrapped up in engineering and tooling for the V6 turbo diesel. When Ford dropped the project it left Navistar in a world of hurt and Ford thought they should just eat it and shut up! I'd be :{ too.

It wasnt a threat, it was a full blown lawsuit. Settled out of court, I beleive.

I was getting my 03 7. 3 PJ worked on again today and they had a brand new fresh off the truck 6. 0 that was getting prepped for the lot or a new owner. I was looking under the hood and on the fan belt diagram they had the routing for a belt for a 4. 7L diesel????
