Exhaust on the OTHER brands

Raced a 6.0 at lunch!

I know one of the TDR issues talked about the myth (or at least screwed up out-of-control tweaked truth) about Ford owning Cummins. Can someone shed some light on what the real deal was/is.

For the 1,267,435th time

Ford used to own a small percentage of stock in Cummins way back when which was sold off long ago. They never "owned" Cummins period.

BTW the top statement was in fun, not being a butt :D

the 5. 852 Cummings gasoline/jack daniels alcohol motor will also be available in the 2007. 3 gmc's (no chevy's) due to emissions reasons. it'll be available in a v7 configuration with 22 spark plugs, 7 stage5 EDM injectors, and an optional blue sweater.

... . ;)

I think fords contract was almost up with navistar around 94. Ford got to lookin at the cummins but dodge beat em out and signed up til 05 or somin. This is what I heard years ago. Sounds like it may be close to the truth. I think ford was seriously getting into bed with cummins.

Ford owned up to 17% of Cummins at a time long, long ago. They sold during the time that Chrysler decided the 6b would fit into the Ram. Last I heard was the Cummins/DC contract ran tell 2007 however anything can happen for the right $$$$.

Right now the rumor is that Ford is looking at the v6 Cummins as a possible power option in the F150's.

BTW - I own a Cummins powered Ford :D

Ford also owned Cummins stock because that was the standard engine in their class 8 trucks. When Ford sold their heavy trucks to Freightliner in 1997 (these rigs became the Sterlig brand), the Cummins stock was sold back at the same time. Ford used the L10 as the standard engine for the L-series and the CL cabover.

right, the old contract was up in 07 but has been extended last year for 10 more, this does not mean cummins in dodge only. just that our auto trans gets mated to them. thus if ford or chevy wanted the cummins they would be buying chryslers trans. which we did back in 94 we had built 20 units for ford, but nothing ever came from it.

Since when does Cummins make vee engines? I know they used to make lots of them, but I was under the impression that they were sticking with inline's now.
