Ford owns cummins

i was taking to one of my friends that is a big ford truck and diesel buff and he told me that ford had reasenly perchesed cummins, but that they are trying to keep it quiet untill after dodges contract with cummins is over. can anyone varify or disprove this?

First off Cummins is traded on the stock exchange so it would never be kept quiet, and a purchase that big would draw the attention of all the news shows.

This one goes round and round. Ford owners just WISHED they could get the Cummins engine in their pos 6. ooooooohhhhhhhhhhh trucks! A rumor I heard that DOES make sense is the reason Dodge is offering the 6. 7 liter Cummins in their 4500, 5500, 6500 trucks is because furd already has the contract for the 5. 9 in their 650-750 trucks. We win again! Chev has a inline 6 cylinder "duramax" (Isuzu) engine in their medium trucks. It (the I-6 d-max) is a true medium truck engine like the Cummins and UNLIKE the furd/neverstart 6. oooooohhhhhh and the v-8 d-max.

We have the best of ALL worlds! The 5. 9 Cummins in our 2500-3500 trucks, the 6. 7 Cummins in our medium trucks, the Mercedes engine in the Sprinter vans, the inline 4 in the Liberty CRD and the very well engineered 3. 2L inline 6 in the Mercedes E320 CDI. (going to test drive one of those possibly this weekend)

There was a post on rv.net today by a Dodge owner who claims that his buddy told him that Ford owns cummings (his spelling) and that Dodge would not have the cummings in 2007 and that Ford was replacing the POS 6. 0 (at least he had that part right) with the cummings.
