A random thought

Dodge to Chevy to Dodge

NO, REALLY! got it straight from the horse's mouth. stopped at a phord dealer yesterday to look at a cherry first gen CTD--'92 d250 club cab LE with 28,0000 miles on the clock . the salesman,(YES, THE SALESMAN, WHO OBVIOUSLY KNOWS ALL ABOUT CUMMINS) told me that pford owns "Cummings" " you know". when i replied that is a recurrent rumor that is not true, he got testy. oh welllll... ... . btw anybody want a very nice '92 that appears to have been kept inside??

Ford owns Cummins-Not

The same guy who told you that Ford owns Cummins is probably the same guy who told me that there is a Allison transmission in my Superduty. Joe :-{}

I would email Cummins and tell them what dealership told you this. Maybe a stern letter from Cummins would str8en them out.

F**D and Cummins in the same sentence leaves a bad taste in my mouth. :)

I had a fool tell me my Dodge had an allison transmission in it yesterday. he was so insistant on it,this uy was CAT truck mechanic,I've had it out twice,I assured him ,it isnt an allison, and he finally says with a puzzled look on his face, well it must be the new Chevys that have it then. If i were ignorant on these issues i certainly would not open my mouth unless i was sure of what i said.

It may be true

My brother-in-law, who is a pherd diesel mechanic, is always reminding me of that. In fact, when I was visiting him in Sac last weekend, he brought it up again and said that after this year Cummins and Dodge would no longer be together. :{ I haven't confirmed this one way or another, but it is interesting that you can get the Cummins in pherd's heavier duty work trucks.

okaaaaaaaaaaaaay........

I had a fella tell me the same thing last

year. He was an over-the-road truck

driver (at least he said so). Proceeded to

tell me that Ford owned Cummins. (We

were standing next to my Ram). I told

him that was BS; then he himmed-n

hawwed about how his brother's son in

law's uncle or whatever

said so. Yeah I thought so!

Funny how rumors get spread around.

It's especially irritating when it comes

from someone that ought to be educated

about their product. (IE, Ford salesmen).

Beateb to death!

Funny how this stuff keeps coming up. Yes, you can get a Cummins in a Ford heavy chassis, and a GMC, and a Freightshaker, and an International and a Western Star, and a Peckerbuilt and and and ... .

But only can the very wise get a Cummins in a real pickup truck.

And for the next seven contractually obligated years!

pford and cummins

yeah, i know. the rumor resurfaces frequently. someone on the site did say that pherd owned a small percent of the cummins stock in the early 90's, but i don't think they have any now. i was tempted to point out the obvious to this salesman, ie, if phord owned cummins, don't you think they would at least offer it as an option in the sooper doody? cummins does sell a number of trucks for DC. as i said, he got "testy" being challenged, so i just dropped it.

Maybe we should each buy 1 share of Cummins stock. Then anytime it was handy we could claim that we own Cummins. You would truley be your own warranty station. ;) ;) ;)

Cummins is owned by Diamond-Reo, a company formed by the Studebaker Motor Company and a group of Ford-Edsil executives in the early 60's. They also have a silent partner who bought out the Delorean and Tucker motor cars. Rumor has it that DC will lose the Cummins because it will only be made available in a Studebaker pickup with a third head light, gull wing doors and finished in stainless steel. :D

I believe the truth is... the Pholks at Phord WISH they owned Cummins.

And the ONLY way that will come true is if they buy a Dodge CTD!!

Go to the Cummins Website, go to FAQ section, that dumbass ford owns cummins question is answered for you. They owned a small percentage of stock at one time, never enough to have any control. And they don't own any of it anymore.

After reading it, hit PRINT and make a few copies for the next time some hillbilly in a cacklewagon tells you that stuff lol :D

phord storys

I once was in a 7. 3 training class and broke the news to the instructor that I was a dodgeman and he said good keep buying dodges it feeds ford because ford owns part of cummins (this is just after i read in the tdr that cummins got its stock back) I told him what i had read and he wanted to argue about it I let him think he must be right he was the ford teacher!
