Good for ford .....

It must be nice to have a company that amits some things are not right ,,,,

Just to name a few ,,,,,53 Block,,,LP,,,, Being able to take autos out of park w/o break pushed ... . buddys son (8yr old) put his truck threw his garage because of this!!!

What has been recalled on the Ram by DC in the last 5 years ?????

Im in no way a ford guy but recalls are not always a sign of a company in distress

DM

Having a recall on the 53 block or the dowell pin is one thing. This engine was originally designed by International. I haven't seen a recall from International on this engine.

It must take one heck of an engineer(or car company) to screw up this bad on something that already works.

YUP - *LOTS* of things DC *should have* recalled, but instead, they leave their customers up the creek withot a paddle...

Ford sent out a recall for the rear lift-up window latch on my wife's '05 Escape - and when we didn't take it in right away, they sent ANOTHER to remind us!

Does that sound like DC?

Yeah, suuuuure it does...

Ford has failed to recall some other things though. A major issue has been a crack in the plastic intake manifold used on Crown Vic's. The police and other emergency vehicles were recalled but civilian versions(with the same part) were not? The dealer wanted a boatload of money to fix it, good thing my dad is a mechanic and could do it.

Hmmm. Wonder if the IH is still P'od at Ford yet? Backing out of a multi million dollar contract. IH taking ford to court. Then only to settle out of court so that it does not hurt ford's reputation. Wonder if IH lost much in that deal?

This was over the V6 version of the VT365, wasnt it? I heard the two settled out of court for lots of money. Isnt it true that Ford is looking at other engine MFRs for an engine for a half ton PU?

One that Ford is going to have to recall for in the near future is the sensor mounted in the brake master cylinder reservoir. I was watching a news show in California a couple of weeks ago where a couple's house burned when this sensor, which is ALWAYS has power to it, ignited the brake fluid of their Ford SUV. It was parked in the garage and when the plastic master cylinder reservoir melted, the fluid spilled out igniting the entire engine area and ultimately the garage.

Seems as though this system has been in use since 1991 and hasn't been recalled yet. It has been installed in most models including the pickup series/SUVs, Crown Vics.

A fireman in SOCAL was doing some work on his Ford truck and noticed a wisp of smoke from the master cylinder/reservoir area. He got his video camera to take a shot of the smoke and suddenly the thing erupted into flames (all on video). He was able to extinguish it but it still caused significant damage to the wiring harness/engine area.

The sensor has a thin film membrane that breaks and allows the fluid to come into contact with the sensor where the power comes in. That causes the fire. Still, there has been no recall on all models that have this sensor.

Seems like Ford has always had an issue with autos catching fire... remember the Pinto!

A true gambling man of the 80's drove a Pinto with Firestone 500's.

In the 90's, the true gambling man upgraded to an Explorer with Firestone ATX's.

The 00's? stay tuned! :-laf
