Ford will have to make "Powerstroke" into non PC friendly word without actually ever saying so as part & parcel of "Scorpion" advert blitz.



Only way to avoid bruising loyal followers is to transform "was manly Powerstroke" into "more manly Scorpion".

Thought I heard that Furd and International PowerJoke settled their lawsuit and walked away hand in hand. Is Furd still planning on providing their own engine?

Yes, ford is planning on building their own engine known as the scorpion which is a 6. 7L. Navistar will be supplying engine through the end of 2009 when ford will go to the in house engine.

The settlement was complicated and involved ford backing out of their contract early and navistar not paying warranty fees on the 6. 0.

Navistar has definitely done their best to alienate a whole generation of Ford diesel
buyers. They better not screw up again in this economy.

Then again with Chrysler one third owned by Fiat, what do we have to look forward to?

problem here is, navistar is getting the blame. while many ford loyalist[and others] are seeing navistar as the blame for the 6. 0 issues, they are not the sole blame holders. many of the nit picking issues with the 6. 0, are due to the crap it was strapped with to meet epa reg's, in light duty vehicles . some of these nit picking issues latter caused worse issues , such as blow head gaskests. much of this stuff was not used in the medium app's, and the 6. 0 was much more reliable in those app's. other engine issues from use of chips and programmers also raised issues. also the majority of the ford/navistar issues stem from the v6 navistar designed, it would not meet fords epa requirments but for a brief moment. ford sunk money into the v6 project, and to find out the engine would need more changes very soon , was not acceptable for ford. back to the 6. 0 issues, it's my understanding that navistar supplies the engines to ford, with little or no warranty. much like cummins does for dodge.
