Ford sold the Dodge bodystyle to Dodge in94??

Was told Ford owned the Dodge bodystyle and sold it to Dodge in 94 with the agreement Ford could not bring out a new bodystyle for 5 years. If this is true someone made a mistake at Ford. There new trucks are similar to Dodge in design but I think they are sorry they let that one get away!!

Interesting if this is true. I had heard that a few Dodge Engineers where out at lunch and when they were returning to work, a "Big Rig" pulled up behind them and the lightbulb clicked on. I suppose that they could have been Ford Engineers? Regardless, we got the style with the Cummins!

Are you checking where you got these rumors or just repeating you heard from someone who knows someone who heard it from somebody "in the know"? One of my brothers-in-law is always doing that. He has never been right on anything yet.

Illfelm, If ford doesnt have anything to do with Cummins why would NASCAR; one of the most watched most attended sport in the country, have a Ford driver(mark martin) have one of his sponsors be Cummins?? why not International?? Next year Dodge is getting into NASCAR. Ill bet you Cummins doesnt follow them. Also in the Craftsman Truck Series(equivilant to NASCAR with truck bodies) they race Dodge trucks without any Cummins sponsorship WAIT AND SEE!!!

Cummins (or any other company for that matter) likes to spend their sponsor dollars on a star. If anybody qualifies for that Mark Martin does. What's that got to do with Ford anyway. Valvoline is also a sponsor for that car and they make Premium Blue the oil for our Cummins. Do you think they would rather sponsor Robby Gordon or someother tail end type? Why don't you check out this stuff before saying anything?

I have heard that rumor,but it is no rumor its true,Ford also owns all of Cummins and Dana,thats why Fords have corporate rearends and dodges get junkie danas. The only good Dana is the disc brake one in a 1ton Ford. Ford also owns Infinity,but would not use a POS like that in there truck. Ford also built the saginaw steering box that is on your truck,and now they own GM. Ford owns Michelin tire company,but they are so shi--y that they use Firestones. I could go on and on but I do not want you Dodge guys to feel any worse. Did I mention Ford owns International(BINDER,LOL) #ad
and Detroit diesel. Oh and a powerstroke gets 80mpg and will outpull any Dodge. Ford also sold Dodge the Viper,it is just a mustwang with differant body panels and a v-10 triton motor. #ad
And the nascar Dodges will be fords just like the chevies are and they will all use Ford motors,even the new Hemi motor was bought off ford,it did not have enough power so ford sold it to Dodge. #ad

NASCAR is NASCAR. They have several racing series.

Winston Cup - The Big Boys with the Big Toys - about 700-750 HP (Except restrictor plate racing)

Busch Grand National - Nearly as Big Boys with Nearly as Big Toys - 500-550 HP.

Craftsman Truck - Watch the RAM run!

Along with several other "smaller" series.

Mark Martin's sponsorship is changing over to Viagra. I don't know if they want Cummins to be associated with Viagra. Almost a match in heaven though, if you think hard about it ... ... ... . STOP THAT!!

GEEEZ you guys!!! I am so freakin sick of hearing about Ford and Cummins!!! There was another thread a while back about the 5. 9 in a Ford... conclusion was you cant get one in the 450 or 550... only in the 650 and up. Please check the other thread on Motor changes for some more relationship info! And Joe G has it right, any company with $$ can write a check and slap their name on the side of a race car. I drive race cars, and been there, done that!

Question - If Ford builds the Hemi now is it called a Femi? LOL - You guys sure now how to get my guts rolling.
BTW - Truth is that Ford did own a very small part of Cummins at one time - Not sure now but I think every business is related in one way or another. Look at Blount and all the companies they own.

Can't wait for BlueBird to start running the Cummins in the school buses in our neighborhood.

Because Cummins owns Valvoline, which is the major sponsor of the Mark Martin driven Ford. It has nothing to do with the driver or the make of the vehicle he drives in this case. It has everything to do with what sponsor is on the hood. And Cummins is related to Valvoline.

REDNUTS, i think what everyone is tring to tell you is that you are very naive, and you shouldny belive everything you read. Especially if it comes from a ford web site, or ford owner. By the way, i hear ford invented the automobile, with Al Gores help.
