New Diesel Electric Hybrid DODGE 2500

Ouch! I've got tears running down my cheeks just reading about the horrors of owning one of those Ford 6. 0 nightmares..... errrr... . engines. I'd write more... ... ... but I have to go grab some Kleenex now :{ .

Are these motors still having major problems? My neighbor just ordered an cab/chasis. I tried to tell him that there were major problems with that motor when they first came out and that there have been quite a few buy backs. What are his chances that it will be a decent truck? I told him if he didn't like the dodges to buy a chevy instead of a ford.

His chances are 50/50 so sad. :(

Ford F-series. The most dependable, longest lasting trucks on the side of the road. :-laf

they can start by droping 2 cylinders :D

It really sucks for those involved. Spend large buckets of cash on something that may/may not work. Too bad Ford has the better interior and a true CrewCab saddled with what appears to be a throw away engine.

Not to defend the SD but I must say they do have some fine points. I do like the looks, they've got a big cab, and there are some nice touches I wish Dodge would add to their trucks. But with that engine, and the cost of participation, I'll keep my Ram thank you!

Buy backs

The upside is that the Diesel Stop has a lot of members that no how to get a "buy back" done. ;) Wonder how many TDR members would be able to help with that.

The part I don't get is all the trucks that seem to have lifts chips etc and Ford still buys them back. Ford could probably say no to most of those guys, so I guess the problem is so bad that Ford does not want to risk ******* off too many folks. The used truck market is being flooded with Lemon Ford 6. 0's

It's a shame because I have friends who swear by the 7. 3 Powerstroke. One buddy has over 350K on a truck driven by employees and used to haul a bobcat around and has spend very little on anything at all. That is a damn fine truck. Ford really messed up this time.

This post has an interesting tidbit from an alleged Navistar guy. Baloney or truth?

He says:

... the warranty repair rate for the 6. 0 liter engine was now lower than the warranty repair rate for the 7. 3 liter engine at the end of the manufacturing cycle of the 7. 3 liter.
