New pictures of the 6.4 FORD....

Oh no...another EBAY'd DODGE

"Ford Motor Co. (F) on Oct. 23 announced a staggering loss of $5. 8 billion in the third quarter and said it plans to restate incorrect accounting, as the Dearborn, Mich. auto maker struggles to make a comeback by slashing costs and reorganizing business. "

Wow... there should be some great deals soon... . if you really want a ford.

Mike

Even if ford offered it's f250 f350 with a CTD, I still wouldn't have one. Been burnt once, won't happen again.

Where have you been for the last four (4) years? Ford's troubles are nothing new, they have been on the verge of filing for bankruptcy protection for some time. Truth be known, if they weren't Ford, they would have been gone long ago, but a company like Ford that has been in business for almost 100 years has staying powers that baffle their mind. I personally don't want anything bad to happen to Ford..... or Dodge or Chevy. There is just so much competition from the Toyota's of the world that making a profit is hard to do now days. Especially when some have decent wages and health care to pay!

Your not going to get any better deal on a Ford truck then has already been advertised. The big push to sell stock was the late winter and early spring. I hate to see them and the other American automakers struggle, hopefully this sudden downturn of fuel prices will help them recover? They really need to speed up the process so they can release there new body styles this coming year not the next, like Chevy did. The release of the new 6. 4L Power stroke should help sales, with it's twin turbochargers and all!!!

I am not a Ford fan, even though I have bought 4 new vehicles from them. If it were not for the new Mustang, Ford just might have gone under.

So did Ma' Mopar

Didn't Ma' Mopar go through the same thing in the late 70s early 80s??? Isn't that when Iaccoca (spelling) came in ad "saved" the day.

Didn't the K-Car in the 80's and the Minivan in the late 80's save the day?I guess they were Lee Iaccocca idea's and it worked :-laf :-laf :-laf

I've undoubtedly had, and been happy with, more Fords in my life than any other brand - and anyone so blinded by false and foolish brand prejudice/loyalty as to WELCOME the downfall and disappearance of ANY of our remaining auto makers is truly blind to reason and reality!

The thought of the absence of Ford, their dealerships and loss of related jobs and aftermarket makers and retailers would be serious blow to our economy and employment statistics - as well as to the various support agencies forced to deal with the added load of the unemployed - NOT a "good thing" for America - regardless of WHICH competing brand YOU prefer to own and drive! :(

Yep! I remember our boss coming into the shop telling everyone to buy Chrysler stock. We thought he was nut's.

I could be retired now!

Well said,Gary. I wish Ford the best with their new engine! We need the decent paying manufacturing jobs and dependent infrastructure. Competition amongst American companies is healthy, makes them a little hungrier. Unfortunately,on the Ford site I don't read many positive wishes for our truck of choice.

Ford gpt tp get itd head out of its butt

First they got to build a car that gets 40 plus miles per gallon. Plus look sharp and drive super. Trucks also better front end and better mileage. Add the cummins to the truck as a option. Power doesent hurt either in the truck. A small truck with a diesel for SUPER good fuel mileage plus look sharp. What has happen to the Lincoln has gone to the dogs also. They need help there. Vw had a good diesel. Now they are back up and looking good. I work in the assembly plant for ford in the 60 and 70. Ford was tough but good to me. I hope they fet back on top.

You'll see Ford and others with a small V-6 diesel, in their F150 size P/U, in the next few years.

GM just went throught the same thing last year. Everyone talked about GM folding but I see they're getting back on their feet.

Mike,

Unfortunately a while ago I read where GM was $30+ BILLION short in their retirement funding. Hopefully that is behind them, as you say.

From what I understand, Toyota is now #2 in this country- will it get to #1? GM sure isn't going to stop them with the AVEO!!

IMHO,

John

You're right! The retiree's got nailed by GM and I hope that was resolved.

I was refereing to GM stock moving back up which would indicate they're getting things turned around.

Mike

Chrysler was actually bailed out by the US government with loan guarantee's of like 1. 5 billion dollars in 1979-1980. Ford is no where near bankruptcy... they are sitting on 25 billion in cash with stake or flat out ownership of several other brands... . Jag, Volvo, Mazda, Land Rover to name a few. The majority of the losses are write offs due to plant closures which will make them stronger in the long run. The restated earnings are actually going up not down. Dealers are actually begging for more Fusions. The new SD will bring in a ton of cash as everyone fights for one at near window sticker.
