Diesels in M1 Abrams

Happy until they find out they can't ever put an exhaust brake on it! Valve springs are only rated at around 15 LB, and the whole computer goes into a tizzy if the engine senses any backpressure for any extended period of time, kind of like what an exhaust brake would cause. I talked to Pac Brake earlier in the week and they said 6. 0, not possible. The Cummins engine is designed to be exhaust brake friendly!

You should have asked that salesman if he had any idea how much ford is LYING about those numbers. Reality is ferd 388 ft lbs and CTD 466 ft lbs on the dyno. At least that's what I saw!

Is it "lemmings" that follow each other over a cliff? They can see the outcome right before their very eyes yet they follow faithfully over the edge. Isn't there a name for this unfortunate disorder when people do the same?

Make that 66 members. Another one just sht the bed with 4600 miles on it. Just when he thought he was home free.

Slighty off topic

Lately when I walk out of the building I work in at quitting time, there is a blue Dodge CTD 4x4 that is pulling out from an adjacent building. No exception today. His truck sounds real cool. Not as good as mine, but that's OK. :D Anywho, not far behind him today comes this sand colored Dura-crack or PSD, I couldn't tell which cuz it was so far away. But it was making an awful, rhythmic clunking sound... like the starter was bouncing off of the transmission. That's the best I can do. He didn't seem to be travelling very fast and I've heard this truck before and do not recall that sound. Man that was a sickening thing to listen to. I'm pretty sure this is a Chevy, but I know the Chevy's don't sound that diesel like and there ain't no diesel I have ever heard that had that loud of a thumping/clunking sound. That wasn't normal.

Another one bites the dust

Hit pretty close to home today. The city's new (132. 6 miles on it) ambulance died on the highway today & wouldn't restart- went back to the dealer on the hook. Thankfully it wasn't on a medical call when it cratered.

7. 3 PSD? What was the diagnosis ?

At least in my area, the PSD powered ambulances are very popular. If/when they put the 6. 0L in them, it could be a very bad deal. Alot of people could potentially die from it if the engine quit and won't restart. It's the last place you would want to have a junk engine.
