Just watched a TFL video on their new gasser. No power or torque numbers released yet, but sounds like it will be a pretty darn stout unit. Ram better get the rumored 7.0 gasser going.

Sounds like a big power/tow rating coming to spank Cummins/Ram.

Im pretty sure they could do that while maintaining last year's HP levels with this new 10 speed transmission. Reliability may be a whole nother factor though...

I remember a certain individual or two balking at the idea of Ford bringing back an OHV engine....
:)

I just saw a video where they are claiming GM is saying full torque first gear on up with the Duramax/10 spd???

Wish they would go back to cubic inches, something that a neanderthal can relate to. 7.3 sounds so pansy.
I was just thinking that exact thing. 500 cu.in Cadillacs, 455 Oldsmobiles, 454 Chevelles, 427,428,429,460 Fords, 455 buicks, 455 Pontiacs,426/440 mopars, heck, the old Cadillac V-16, and the Dodge 488 V-10 . I always have to do the conversion in my head and think in terms of cubic inches. Must be flavor of the moment with the marketers and engineers. Bottom line, "there is no replacement for displacement". I thought the world of green wienees was going to have all fossil fuels and their use outlawed within 10 years?

Thar she blows!!

I can’t believe. Pushrods again.

you might want to watch the very informative video from the lead guy on the 7.3...before you say something like that. This isn't a racing engine...it is made to work and fit in many different applications. Sounds like they didn't their home work.

I don’t have a problem with a pushrod valvetrain. I’m just surprised that forward thinking Ford would do it.

If GM allows full torque in 1st gear, the TC had better lock or its all 'churn' and slow go.
I will admit, GM took a really big step in tow ratings....

Ford engineers have been quoted as saying they ditched OHC for OHV because the pushrod set up is so much more compact and will allow for fitment into many applications.
It will be interesting to see how GM new 6.6L (402 CI for David ;)) stacks up against this engine.

Im interested in the Ford GASSER Its a CRIMNE that Cummins choose to put their fine motor in such a POS truck like DOG-GE has become, Cummins was the ONLY reason I bought the truck

More HP and towing wars between the Big 3. This is just what we need for the gotta pull a popup with a Peterbilt crowd.
LOL This town is overrun with team ropers from all over the map in the Winter. Some are sure-enough ranchers and cowboys, but the vast majority are phony wannabe cowboys. Think of the movie Wild Hogs, but with cowboys and horses instead. I regularly see crewcab Petes, or Class 8 toters pulling a horse trailer my 2500 could pull without breaking a sweat.

There is a fairgrounds 2 miles from my place. Same thing happens there, horse show comes in and the lots are full of class 8's pulling 4 horse slants. Unbelievable the money these guys have wrapped up in those units.
