Stopped by a Ford dealership this afternoon... saw a couple SuperCruisers parked on the corner! For a paultry $98,000 you can have an F650 with a 3126 @300hp, a 6spd allison, leather, air everything and 135gallons of diesel capacity. Sorry, but I just dont see the value; One can buy pretty much any big rig for that money with a 'real motor' in it (500hp, 2000lbs) and an 18 spd double-over. It wont be too long til the owners find out that 300hp aint nearly enough to pull most anything up a hill. A few years back, I was wanting to build a 'toter-home' to pull a new, large 4-car race trailer. After questioning 2 dozen owners of FL 70's, Top Kicks, etc. , all were in agreement that they were severely lacking in power at 300hp. . I ended up building my toter on a used T600 with a 435hp Series 60 and a 9 speed for less money than I could have a smaller truck. The motor was never taxed or stressed pulling my loads... I made the right choice.

That motor puts out 860 ft. lb. of torque. Also, it has 4. 33 gears. It will pull just fine. However, I agree with your point on the price and what else you could get for the money.

Being in the RV biz, from time to time, I see med duty RV toters for sale. A typical scenario is an elderly couple buys a toter and BIG 5th wheel and hits the road. A year or two into this deal, they figure out they cannot handle the rig and trade it in on a motor home. These toters end up being shopped to us at 30 to 40 cents on the dollar as to what they sold for new. If you like the super crewzer, give it 2 to 3 years and you can buy one for 35 to 40 K. Be patient, it'll come.

$36K for a FL70? Guess that blows big holes in the arguement that a truck rated for the job is just too expensive. I think that some of our brethren have spent more than 36K on their Dodge Cummins.

Yes, 36,000. 00 for the truck 335 horse with air everything. Slider 5th wheel, etc. Spent 3K more for a 60" sleeper Only reg @ 53,000 lbs to avoid the HVT , heavy vechicle tax. But still can pull 40K in weight Had a ton of recalls on it But nothing major. In my old 92 D-350 I had well over 45K invested. by the time I did the eng swap, Banks, e-brake, Rear end job, etc, etc. The FL-70 is a tuff truck Pull any grade at 75 MPH fulley loaded. Wish my 2000 CTD would w/o droping a gear or 2. Strange had 45K in the 92 and sold for 16,500. 00. Mike

The cost of 3500 duallies plus I didn't want to go back to ford vans and found out the Cummins was standard engine led me to Freightliner. They (orlando freightliner) were quoting 35,000 plus change for FL 60's.
I don't have the all the luxury items but enough of them. I set my Cummins up to 215 hp/520 tq with the dry box(fiber board) 16'x8x7. 5 costing 4200. The whole set up was in the ball range of what I could afford.
My only regret is the dealerships service dept. Just as bad as car dealerships.
But I like driving it,it is easy to maneuver the box is a produce(fruit and vegetable) saver (keeps rain and sun off of it) . The engine is easy to get to. More for tags and insurance.
