 What's up with Piers Diesel Research???

I call about a set of forged racing pistons and I get the runaround. I've called 4 times this week! I SWEAR I was polite and courteuos. I talked to a girl named Amy? and a guy named Mark. Niether one knows what the heck I'm talking about. I told them I saw them on their website and decided to order a set for the rebuild I'm doing along with $5000. 00 worth of other stuff. All they do is keep asking my name, which I told them 3 times already, and then they say they want me to wait and talk to Piers. I KNOW this guy is busy, and he don't got to waste his valuable time talkin to to a regular joe like me. All I want to do is order some parts, put my truck back together and go sled pullin'. Do I stink? Bad breath?? What did I do wrong?

HELP! Thanks guys, Brian

give him time once you talk with piers you can get the lowdown on the pistons he would need to know what cam your going to run for the vavle reliefs in the pistons and it will take you like an hour to get him off the phone once he starts talking so dont us you cell phone it will be big bill if you do LOL George

Patience isn't my strong suit, i'll work on it.

I agree give Piers a chance to talk to you himself and be ready to sit a spell the man can talk!! He is always willing to spend the time to make sure what you want. Since you are talking about shipping quite a ways you are better off to make sure you get your parts right the first time :D

ThrottleJockey:

I see on your "title" that you live in Indiana. I would

suggest you call Kent Crowder at "Scheid Diesel" in

Lafayette, Indiana. I know they have or can get you

the forged pistons you are looking for! Their phone

number is: 1-800-669-3533. Ask for "Kent" and I know

he will be able to help you buddy!

Good luck!

Well worth the wait to talk to the Doc. (Not you Tinker ;) well maybe you too :) )

I have to apologize to Piers,

He answered my e-mail about 6 seconds after I sent it, in the PM feature of the TDR!

I'll be the slobberin' idiot over in the corner re-reading the information on how ALL the features of the TDR website work!

Sorry Piers, and also to the readers of this website. You guys were right once again, customer service at Piers Diesel Research is second to none! Piers is the man!

I, however, need counseling... ... . :(

Brian, saying Piers is busy is and understatement... my guess is puts in 80-90 hrs a week... . BOTW he is a regular Joe also and will talk to anyone.

Heck I have run his stuff for 2 years now and almost everything on my motor has his name on it and I have trouble getting in touch with him also;)

Forged pistons are expensive!! I can't afford them. They were around $300 a piston. Marines are somewhere a little more than $100. I think I am going to use marine.

yeah this talk of forged pistons is making me wonder if i should sell my marine piston set ?,... mummn i was waiting to get my block bored and o ringed, and the marines cut for a big 'ol cam . . see how the $ comes and goes i think i'll have to sell my quad to pay for some stuff now hehe

I've been following this post.

Feels like Piers is giving me special treatment,, or maybe I just catch him at the right times? I call, ask for Piers, and viola, he's there, and on the phone.

day before yesterday, I called him a couple times, and he wasn't in, or was busy, so I thought, ok, I'll call tomorow. about 7pm I get a call from 604 area code,, and I think ?? Who's That? I answer it, lo and behold, it's Piers, just called to keep me up to date with some parts I'm looking at. Now, That's Customer service.

BTW, Forged Pistons? What's wrong with the factory ones? I've heard the pistons are one of the last things "to go" from high heat. I thought valves, turbo's were the first to go?

I have never had any problem getting Piers on the phone and when he isn't there he has always called me back. I frankly am blown away that he can get anything done as much as he talks to people himself. I have wondered at times if he had a couple of clones of himself. .

PDR has always given me AAA+++ service and then some...

Uh, Merrick? Arent you the guy with the stacks??

Whats wrong with the factory exhaust?:D :D

I thought I would indulge in a little Piers Diesel Reasearch treat while I was into the rebuild ( Blew a headgasket and ate a bearing)

I give the dude grief and he STILL helped me out. Guess who gets my $7000. 00

Sorry Merrick, just kiddin':)

Um, it's behind the wheels, it points down, it's to quiet. LOL

Point taken.

I ass/u/me'd that you were going to pull the motor just to put forged pistons in.

You might want to think about some haisley's XHD head studs, and a girdle kit.

They gotta drill and tap the block for that, don't they?

I had a hard enough time drillin' the hole for my Scotty 2! ( Imagine a grown man standin' in his boxers at 2 AM in the driveway holding the hole saw and sobbing like a woman..... :(

Yah, but it's allready out. Easy to do it now. The don't need to work on it for the girdle as I understand it.
