And I thought 3rd Gen sheet metal was thin...

2000 jeep grand cherokee limited ?

well I came past this lil guy today before it was going to be scrapped!! I was told it runs but went back and put a battery and some fresh gas in it... turned the key and pressed the button... sure enough it fired right up!Oo. I coudlnt go far enough to test the steering but the forward and reverse work, not sure where the brake is but the big left pedal doesnt do anything. (I think its the brake) Up and down work on the boom and its a manual tilt (front to back on the boom)

ok my question... . anyone know where to find info on this lil guy? I figured it would be a good project to clean up and get back to looking good with some paint.

Its a "mighty midget" MOBILIFT manufactured by Vaughan Motor Co. Ill have to go back and read the serial and model numbers. I can read the patient numbers clearly (would the help find parts/pics?)

Thanks!

Ian

Heck with the forklift, what's the mini crawler? :-laf

Ian, Mobilift is still in business I think. I worked for a maintainence company about 8 years ago. They had a Mobilift 70 ton crane. Custom rig for inside factorys on hard rubber tires, Cummins diesel, rear counterweight that extended for increased lifting capacity, hydro drive. Really big money! But then, when you're setting up a 5-7 million dollar c-n-c machine in Goulds Pumps, you need something to pick it with! ;)

My family business is forklift sales, service, parts and rentals. We can find parts for damn near any forklift. The patent numbers mean nothing. There is a serial number stamped on the frame somewhere on that thing. I have a "Eaton, Yale and Towne" 1500 pound capacity lift that I gave 100 dollars for, just because it was "cool" and unique. It runs good now that I converted it to propane, but it still needs work. Your machine looks similar to a customer's Namco unit. They are handy to have, without a doubt. I also have a 1500 pound capacity Big Joe stacker that is handy in the shop.

Mobilift does not make those type things anymore, but they are still in the pallet jack business.

I really like older lifts like yours. In my shop I have a couple of Crown battery pallet stackers that I'm rebuilding, a Big Joe stacker, another old walk-behind lift that I'm planning to sell (pic below), and my much bigger Yale 3000# diesel forklift.

The problem with selling older lifts on eBay is the shipping costs can be huge for something that is basically a "neat toy". Most businesses won't buy such a vintage machine that will be difficult to find service & parts. Hopefully some local buyers will bid it up.
