I have been following this forum for over 4 years. Everytime I thought I had my mind made up, I would learn something new. I finally made it official this last Saturday and bought my truck. The 1% below invoice, 0% for 60 months plus the Farm Bureau $500 rebate helped. Even got a fair trade-in price. My last truck was a K2500 Suburban... ... ... I was a Chevy man for over 20 years and this truck is the reason (not to mention the leaking, oil soaked transmission I encountered on my Duramax test drive) I will NEVER own a Chevy again. Almost bought a F-350 Crew Cab Power Stroke, but the really poor quality and long list of broken down items such as transaxle on my wifes Taurus made me take another close look at the F-350. Lots of similar problems there too. The Ford-Diesel web site seemed like it had more unhappy owners than satisfied by a long shot. I test drove them all several times. I am extremely happy with my Dodge so far. Best of all I have a tow vehicle to pull my 26 ft. Sea Ray that doesn't even know it is back there! :)

Welcome and tell us about your truck

Hey , don't torture us by making us guess what truck you bought.

Tell us a little about the size, color. transmission ,engine

Don't worry , we never get bored with this stuff:cool:

I had that Chevy disease too for over 20 years. One day back in 1994 I was driving down I-44 in my restored '54 Chebby 3/4 ton, and got passed by a new Dodge truck. Huh!, thought I, those new Dodge's are U-G-L-Y.

I'll never own one of those ugly things!

It's funny how things grow on you. Today, and for the last 3 years I have not only owned one, I have LOVED my 1995 Dodge/Cummins. I guess I finally grew up!

Back when I was driving my '94 Chevy K2500 pickup (6. 5TD)

I would see a Dodge Ram with "Cummins Turbo Diesel" on

the door and roll down the window just to hear it. My Chevy

never let me down in 5 years & 60,000 miles I had it but

there was something about the Cummins that I just had to

try one out.

I used to pass by a large Dodge dealership several times a

week and finally stopped in for a test drive. I had already

made up my mind that my next diesel would have a manual

transmission.

I ended up buying a new 2001 3500 4x4 QC ETC 5 speed.

Spent many hours researching the TDR before and after my

purchase. I remember when the Edge "3-light" box was the

hot topic in the Products and Accessories forum, along with

the VA and Blue Chip. I ended up getting the Power Edge,

and installed AutoMeter boost & pyro gauges on the A pillar.

Soon afterwards bought a Mag Hytec rear axle cover.

I also remember about that time the Duramax was going thru

development stages and a year or so away from being

released. And the rumors that GM was talking to John Deere,

CAT and others about the next GM diesel.

Well I was somewhat disappointed that they went with DMax

LTD. Sure it's made in Ohio. But it is a Japanese design and

a Japanese company. The Allison is a big high tech leap but

so much so that more and more often I hear complaints about

the new transmission.

The 2003 Chevy's front end redesign doesn't appeal to me

at all, but the new GMC looks pretty sharp IMHO.

What worries me most is the cost to repair the DMax and Allison

after the warranty expires. Without a doubt they are going to

be very expensive to repair when the miles start to build.

I did test drive a couple of Ford Power Stroke pickups but they

did not appeal to me. Too much stuff packed in under the hood

for one thing.

My next truck will most likely be another Dodge Cummins Ram.

Welcome to the collective, rfrazier!
