Trade 4BT for 6BT

4BT Engine mounts with AC

So I'm planning on swapping a 12 valve into a 73-87 style chevy crewcab, neither of which I have yet

Found a cummins donor, but it sounds fishy, bear in mind I haven't seen the truck yet. It's a 95' manual 2wd. He said it's had three engine?!?

Here is his exact email

it is $1000 for the engine, $500 for the transmission. It's a standard transmission with a granny gear. The bed is $500. 00. The truck is running, I'll take you for a drive in it. The engine is the third one it's had, I was told it had around 80,000 miles on it. I've put some miles on but not much, as I don't drive it on the street very far. There's no title for it and no way to get one.

I just got another email that said the truck has 400,000 total miles on it, which still doesn't explain three engines.

He's going to send me pictures of the engine, all though I'm not sure what that is going to prove.

How long do turbo's last? What should I be concerned about?

If your close by go look at it , some people can mess a engine up in 10 miles , but hey stuff happends , Ask him when you get there or before hand if he will give you the vin number and plate number and call the police and run the numbers ,or bluntly ask if its HOT!!!!!!!!!

WTF??

I would even be afraid to go look at it. Be sure to take your cell phone and tell people where you are going. Be sure to take a few weapons with you along with 3 or 4 of your biggest and scariest friends. :-laf

Ok found out a little more info. He said the previous owner and him had a "disagreement" and that they will not be providing a title. He said he's had it for two years and it's only good for a parts truck because of the title issue.

I'm not so scared about the title issue, more the condition of the engine. I don't have enough experience with these yet to know if the injector pump is going out, turbo, etc...

The major plus it has is that I would have a whole truck for parts. I wouldn't have to spend alot of time and money trying to find intercooler parts, etc...

I'm doing this entire thing on a limited budget and this low of a price would help enourmously.

He's about 175 miles from me...
