Wow, hope his beard doesn't get tangled up in a blower drive belt... ... .

V-24 2 Stroke Diesel Weed Whacker Motor, what an animal. . :--)

Reminiscent of the Bandag Team Drag Trucks that used to roam the country with the Screamin' Detroit Power. Can't remember the guy's name though.

Was it Malone maybe?????

I once saw a Peterbuilt conventional with an extended hood. The driver had lengthened the frame to accomodate at Cat 3412 marine diesel that had been in a tugboat. Damn thing really looked funny with that long snout, but it sure got the job done.

But, that V24 DD is Sierra Hotel. WOW!!!!!

That would have been an absolute beast IF it was the right 3412.....

If a 2 stroke isn't making a puddle under it when it is running you had better shut it down and check the oil because there can't be any left in the base pan!!!!:-laf:-laf

That didn't look like a 3000hp run to me.

I spent many years working in and operating automotive test cells powered by Cummins diesels ranging from 600 to 1200 horse power. Entering a test cell when under power is a no, no. I have seen rods and driveline's come apart and embed in concrete walls.

The fact that this engine is extremely modified is even more reason to stay out.

Under full power the noise & vibration goes right through you and ear plugs and ear muffs would be insufficient, you would not be able to hear him talk!!! There would also have been fire & smoke.

Detroit's scream, we tested a 552hp turbo supercharged 6v92 in the 80's and that 24 cylinder didn't sound like it was brought up much more than an idle.

Loading an engine to 3000+hp takes more than a few seconds.

A full power run would have been monitored from a control room.

This looked like an exhibition run to me, but I still liked it!!!

I agree what some have said about the oil. Years ago there was a saying that if you say a puddle of oil there was either a Detroit Diesel, a Corvair or a Harley Davidson parked there.

Wimps. Try standing 2 feet from a F404-400 after burner flame while leak checking the after burner spray nozzles in a test cell or doing the same on the fantail of an Aircraft Carrier at night. :p

I had a Detroit Diesel wall calendar one time... Had to return it to the dealer and claim warranty due to it leaking oil all over my floor!!!. .

I agree, that was NOT a "numbers run"... Being in an enclosed room with 2500hp @ 1950 RPM is enough... It literally rattles your insides.

I got to drive a 440HP 8V92ATurbo in an old Freightliner about 200 miles. I felt a little numb in the head after that. The same guy that had the 8V92 also had a neat '66 Freightliner with the 318hp 8V71. That was REAL noisy when running.
I agree with you guys in that the video WASN'T the HP run. I sure as heck wouldn't be in the test cell with that thing at full TILT!!!
