I guess a road-rock must have done a "pinch and release" from the treads on my LR tire. now there's a 1-1/4" hole in that black plastic fenderwell between the tire and the fuel tank filler-tube area... . what would be a good patch material? I'm tempted to use a piece of sheetsteel and some poprivets, and then some black rubber-spray... anybody got a better idea?... . you'd think that would be a pre-market test item, wouldn't you?? raises the next question--why not sheet-steel to begin with? how much would it have really bumped the sale price? $40-50? I'd have paid it w/out thinking twice... . rm

Rich, sheet metal wheel wells would just get all dinged up. I'm surprised it's never happened to me living on a gravel road with AT tires,as soon as I hit the pavement it sounds like a machine gun.
I think pop-rivets with a piece of stiff rubber such as part of a mud flap on the back side should fix it right up.

If you are trying to make a repair that usually won't be noticed, there is a product called "Problem Plastic". I've used it on motorcycle fairings and it has held up very well and takes alot of abuse.
Just another option.

In the past I have used a black plastic anti-freeze or oil bottle for similar repair. Held up pretty well and didn't discolor, probably lost a few style points, but it worked.

I'd buy a set of cheap plastic mud flaps at Pep Boys and use one of 'em to make a patch. You can use plastic pop rivets they use on the inner fenders to hold in place.

I also used an old plastic mudflap. I've got about seven or eight patches on my plastic liners and completely used up 1 mudflap! Worked for me... .

thanx a lot, guys! i think the jug-plastic and poprivets sounds best... (reading between lines... "freebie" #ad
