i looked under the truck, looking at the water pump and block heater. well the block heater is covered with white chalky stuff, i hope my antifreeze leak is jsut a bad blockheater gasket (if that is possible) hopefully not a cracked block, i couldnt see any cracks but it took me this long to find the white stuff on the block heater. it looks to be coming from the bottom on the block heater and it still looks alittle wet. lets keep our fingers crossed as i dont want to do a headgasket change. i was quoted by 2 cummins shops in a range from 1200-1700 both said it was on the high end but that is the safe end, it can always go down.

I noticed a coolant loss on my beast a while back too... .

All those little 90° heater hose elbows are starting to hate life under my hood.

The parts stores around here are clueless... . and when I go out back to look at the preformed stuff, a few of them are close but no cigar... .

block heater bolt

i worked on a truck and the bolt that holds the block heater in was in two peices. the bolt was corroded in half and the block heater was just kind of sitting there until i poke at it and it fell out. i just drill out the hole and added a bigger stainless bolt. its still there and not leaking.

coolant hoses

When I changed all my hoses, I got them at NAPA. Even the 90 degree one and the one for the jiggle pin bleed. Sorry I don't remember the numbers.

I bought a few of the jiggle hoses from Cummins... and they weren't cheap.

Bill: dealer only?! Man, that stinks..... How can pre-formed hose get to be so $*#^ expensive? The manufacturing process can't be that complicated... . then again, a little CNC goes a long way.
