Let us know what they come up with for the cause of death. The work order on my old man's was #1 cylinder failed due to valve defect. ?

Big B, that is a really strange progression of events you had to lead up to this. Slight miss/rough engine, then it started knocking, and now a toasted cylinder?



I am very curious to know what happened. JNutter (now Shooter) toasted a cylinder when his EGT gauge lied to him. His engine started knocking.



Did your truck do anything else strange like make blue/white smoke? (thinking injector). Did you ever run your truck really hard towing or anything before the symptoms started or did it just start acting up one day out of the blue?? If an injector was leaking excessively causing overfueling on one cylinder you'd think it would make noticeable smoke. Maybe you had a tight valve and it finally burned the seats.



Please keep us posted and good luck. Hope the dealer doesn't D/C your warranty over the injectors

I think what happen is I got it hot when I pull my grain trailer home in July. Because I remember the water temp was very hot that day. And I had a SPA gauge that never seem to read right. SO after that I put different gauges in and the EGT reads a lot higher than SPA gauge did. But after that day the motor always seem to be a little louder then before. And it had about 21,000 on then and now it has 30,000.

Big B, what's the latest on your truck? Get your shortblock replaced? What ended up being wrong with your engine?

What happend number 1 scored. They got the new short block and will start putting it back in wed. They said warranty will take care of it.
