WHEW!!!!! Guys and gals,I got the power. Took the truck to the shop today. Pulled pump, flow tested it,cal-ed it,and set it to factory specs. Then set the TST #6 on pump and it flowed. Put pump on truck and its still a turkey. Sent truck over to another shop and they put a scannerr on it. NOTHING. Back to shop #1,pull afc, move star wheel, some power not much. Its getting late,17:30. Pulled afc mechanic says its not getting boost. Blows on fitting that boost elbow screws into and the damned thing is plugged off with soot. Drill opening, puts it all together again and MAN this thing will run. Mechanic says sometimes its the little things that get you. I would like to thank all who offerred help,I appreciate it. Long live the CTD.

P. S. my wifes Astro van can not out run this CTD.

Oh yea,215`s or 370`s next!

:D :D :D :D  :)

Congratulations!

Ok I'm confused... You have a boost guage, so I'm sure you were monitoring the boost while chasing the power issue. My question is what were the readings when you had poor performance & what have they increased to now.

This is good information, thanks for sharing it:)

soot

After I installed the gauges the boost would go to 24# at WOT.

And the avg speed was 55-65 mph WOT. The most boost I had seen was 25# at 85+mph. The truck would not just accellarate like a gasser. It would accellerate but not very fast. I got no black smoke. The only smoke I got was when the peddle was pushed sitting still. And that was very little. A small cloud.

Now when I step on it the boost JUMPS to 35#,NOW!!!!!!!!

And the truck moves.

On the back of my afc housing the pressure from the cylinder head ties to the afc and the line from the waste gate. The brass fitting that screws onto the afc, the boost elbow and signal line to the waste gate connect here also. ( When one gets a TST plate the elbow screws into this brass fitting). Somehow there was soot in the fitting on the afc. Truck had egr. Now it has the 49er. It was a learning experience.

Remember the egr recirculates spent exhaust gases back into the intake. Soot going back into the engine.

     :{
