My truck got the AX update last month after getting a P2262 code. It still didn't seem right, & I went on an 800 mile vacation trip when everything started happening. My overhead was flashing warnings that regen is required now... 80% then 90% then it said it was full. I was miles from any dealer so I pulled over and shut down. No cell service, so restarted it and drove the rest of the way with intermittent warnings then messages saying it was doing a regen, then it all disappeared. Then it started telling me I was getting 50 mpg on a flat road, but no more regen stuff. I found a dealer and read the codes P2262, P242F, P1451, & P200C. They said my DPF and Nox unit was in need of replacement, but no parts were available nation wide. I did see some black soot in the tailpipe which I wiped out for follow up - it had been clean since I bought it so knew something was wrong.

They performed an update to the overhead they said should have been performed when the AX flash was done. The service manager at the dealer I drove the 800 miles home and did not see one warning of any kind and the tailpipe stayed clean. I could tell the truck was doing the regen based on mpg holding steady between 19-22 then dropping to 14-15 for 12-15 minutes out of every hour or so.

I took it to my home dealer just to check it out further and they could not find anything wrong.

Is it possible the overhead flash could have lead to a false CEL light preventing a normal regen from happening leading to this?

After having soot pass through the DPF, mine seems to have cleared itself - when I got home tonight I could smell that real hot smell that only comes from a regen and the tailpipe was clear of any black smoke.

Is it supposed to work this way? Is there anywhere an explanation of how this is supposed to work - I'm probably asking for classified info but being an engineer that's what I want.

Perfectly normal. The messages will occur on the new Consul flash which indicates the DPF needs to do a regen and it will.
You should ask your dealer to install gauges such as EGT, Boost and Transmission this will allow you to monitor the regen process by the temperatures and the boost also changes during regen as well. The Transmission temp is just good sense. The Pyro probe should be mounted per turbo as it will give you the most sensitive readings.
If the dealer give you any flack just tell him how else are you to monitor the regen process except by EGT temperatures.

Freebore..... You need a new DPF, period. You probably got a P200C (exhaust temperature over-temp) first. This code disables regeneration, so then you got P1451/2463/242F in that order. Once you get P242F you need a new DPF. The NOx absorber (NAC) does NOT need to be replaced.

For the P2262 they can clean or replace the turbo... . they will probably clean it.

Just curious, which dealership are you gong to? I saw another one of your threads where they told you that cruise control disables regen... . you need to find a new dealer.

my truck did the samething today with only 6000 miles on it??? Had the new flash done last month etc. and the overhead went nuts. Started with 80, the 90, the 100% full went into regen then said complete. a little while later it said the dfp was 90 then 100 and went into reggen again... then a little while later the overhead said filter full, Oh I forgot on the first regen I got the check engine lite and can't be cleared. A little while later the overhead said power being reduced contact dealer. This all happen over a 120 mile trip going 75-80MPH. Now since I've had this truck, It is used for pulling my 5th wheel, not less than a 100 mile trips, exhaust brake on, no to the market driving etc. Call my dealer tech friend on the way home, and he says I am SOL. The DPF needs to be replaced and are back ordered???? Last one he got in it took a month. Now I'm ******, as he said continued driving it will completely shut down and strand your ***. Told me if that should happen, loosen the three bolts wedge it appart from the cat and it should start and be able to drive. Now picture my Old lady driving it and it stalls. Now this is my 5th diesel truck first 6. 7 and have read all the bad press and said it won't happen to me... . well I never made it too 10,000 or 25,000 or 100,000 and it crapped on me. I now have to wait to Monday call some dealers and decide what to do. It's no wonder people are finding ways to over ride the issues and delete the DFE... . If I don't get this resolved by the end of next week, I will too delete, or whatever to make it work, government or not. With the price of fuel and the economy and the problems with the 6. 7 I,m not going to be able to sell, or trade in unless I take a big hit. #@$%!

Did you know that there are people who have these trucks and fail to acknowledge that these trucks have serious issues that really are happening to almost all of them eventually. I have had nothing but problems with mine ,my other trucks have had -0- problems ... . all of them are 5. 9's with straight pipes.

A 5. 9 with no problems? I had three of them, they do have problems, but you can fix them yourself most of the time. That's what makes the 5. 9 so good.

kind of followup to my post above. I went to the dealer today and have them checkout what I already knew. they are ordering a new Dfp and catalitic converter and will take approx. a week or so to get in. They wanted me to leave the truck and I said no, but told me not to drive until parts come because I could possibly be stranded as the truck could shut down while driving. While there, I noticed approx. 30 or so cats and DFP's lying in a pile. They are from 07. 5's and 08's. If someone thinks these problems are going away soon, just stop by your friendly dealer and see these things lying around. At this time, my dealer says you can't find a 5. 9 used on their lot, and what has been normal for them prior to the 6. 7 came out (since they are also a CHEV DEALER), 2 to 1 sales of cummins to duramax's is now the other way around, and a lot of die heart dodge customers have been switching to Duramax's because of the problems. Noone wants down time no matter how good the engine, and in my case DPF delete maybe on the horizon for me if Dodge doesn't get this fixed soon.

Now don't get me wrong, I am all in favor of pollution control and enviroment, however, I am not going to have a 40K truck which can't be driven because of the issues, or the fact I will lose my shorts in a trade in, or be unable to sell.

Yeah - I agree that my DPF really needs replacing. Called the original dealer service tech that diagnosed it for me (in my home state of South Dakota where people still appear to earn their keep) and confirmed that if I really wanted to, they'd get one, clean it up and install whatever else it needs. The place I took it near home wouldn't even call them - it's called communicate.

They deal with a lot of trucks and from what it sounds like they've had success with the ones they have fixed right (cleaned them out properly, replaced the bad components, and ensure the very latest software was up to date). He told me if I ever got back and it wasn't done, they'd do it right. 700 miles but I'm almost tempted to take it back there rather than work with the yahoos that I've been working with. I tried calling the 800 number that supposed to be Chrysler support and some guy a half a world away answers - a dealer told me you have to bypass these folks to get anything done.

If anyone knows the most effective way of pursuing this without having to hire and attorney, get the EPA involved, call the BBB, etc. , I'd like to know. I thought GM was bad when I had a few problems with a truck from them, but these guys have no sense of urgency.
