HI. Driving home from a small trip the fp went from 9. 5 to 7. 5 and held there for a bit,it happened at idle and stayed through the mile home. I restarted the truck and the pressure was normal(for my truck) at 9. 5. Checked for leaks, none. I am leaving saturday to move cross country. Do I need to worry about this or is this something normal and will pass?

Sudden variations are not usually normal, but my aftermarket system does fluctuate a couple pounds based on ambient conditions.

With fuel pressures below 10psi, I'm assuming you've still got the stock in-tank pump. I wouldn't start panicking, and I wouldn't worry about it for your drive cross-country. Just keep an eye on the pressure for now.

Bring a spare fuel filter with you.

I just got back to CA from TX. Along the way, my Rail Pressure gauge was all over the place. At times I would be driving at 70 MPH and the RP would be at 15K, then 5 minutes later it would jump up to a constant 25K. If I pulled over and let the truck chill for a few minutes, the RP would return to normal 15K-20K while driving at 70 MPH, but after another 10 min of driving it would jump back up to 25K. I am thinking that I could have picked up some bad fuel or that I have algae in the tank or system somewhere, as my Walbro has a very loud whine now (never did before). Fuel pressure is still 14-16, but should be at about 19. At least, that's where it was when I did the GDP install. I am going to run some algaecide and then change both filters and see if things change. Anyone know what brand algaecide to run?

I wouldn't worry too much about the flucuation. But like previously stated, get an extra filter, or maybe just change your filter now, and see if that helps.

Changed the filter already to the 5 micron, about 1k miles ago so I dont think the filter would cause that all of a sudden pressure drop, and just for that little bit. I got spare 7 and 5 micron filters and some stanadyne so I should be all set. Temps were higher than I have seen here so far with this truck(80) so maybe that has something to do with it. Oh well. Wish me luck.

Trip over. FP never dropped below 7. 5 over the biggest hills, and never saw under 9. 5 at idle, seems it was just that one time.
