Fram Sure Drain Oil Plug

I did my first oil change on my new RAM today, what a mess! The hole in the Oil Container I was using to collect the oil could not keep up with the flow of old oil from the engine.



Anyway I am thinking of purchasing a FRAM Sure Drain to simplify the job in the future and was wondering if anyone has fitted one of these devices. If so what SD number fits our Cummins engines.



Any comments would be appreciated

I use a similar one - and pour the oil into gallon milk containers... ... I then put this into a trash bag and put under my workbench - I never clean it... ... . trash bag doesn't get messy... ...

SD-5, I have had one on my truck for over 3 years, works great, has never leaked a drop.

I cut the top off of a 5 gallon paint bucket so it fits under the truck, drive the truck on 2X8 boards laid flat, put on disposeable gloves, hit the plug, let gravity take over, remove the filter, pre-fill the new one and the last time I did it, not one drop of oil on the floor.

I have one identical to that except it's yellow and made by Flitz. I was also able to buy it in US $$$ not pounds-sterling Great pan.

I'm trying to figue out what you do with all those 1 gallon milk containers full of oil in trash bags under your work bench. I take my drain oil to Checker. :-laf

i think i am going to get one of those fram sure drain fittings for my truck [i remember looking at it in the store, and #5 was the one we needed]

I had a Fram quick drain on a Camaro, and found that the threaded plug extended into the bottom of the pan, and not ALL the oil would drain. I thought that perhaps the oil in the bottom of the pan was prob the dirtiest (most shavings), so I ditched it.

Check out Geno's Garage for either the Fumoto Drain valve or the EZ change valve. I have the EZ change and I love it. I'm not a big fan of anything Fram so I don't support them unless I absolutely have to.



I was worried about the oil left in the pan also but someone posted that they considered that and one time after draining the oil, pulled it out to see how much oil it left behind. It turned out to be about 2 oz or so. Not really significant in 12 qts of oil (about 0. 5%). Throw a bypass filter on their and there is definitely no need to worry about the little bit left.

I've had the EZ from Geno's for over 8 years on my 98 and will be getting one for the 2006. (d&%# I wish it would have still fit) I also can say I love it. The EZ change tube fits down to the hole in my "Oil Container" so there is no spillage. You run more risk of spilling from changing the filter than draining the oil. my 0. 02
