Thanks, TDR Staff
For the last two years I have been working on a 64 Chevy Stepside C-10... as money permits of course. In love with Diesel, I have pondered the idea about throwing a CTD into my 64 Chevy. Now, I have done no measuring or research on this, as I need to get the frame coated and all the other parts coated before I can have her rolling again, so I can get a ride height to see if that oil pan will cause an issue. I'm thinking if it does, I can work out some mounts to sit the engine up a little higher, and build a scoop out of the hood covering the head of the engine. Let me know what you guys think? Plausible? :D

Sounds cool, but maybe just a 4bt though. I doubt there will be interference with the hood unless you go overboard raising it.

Chevy frames from those years were pretty much a wet noodle in terms of strength and ridgidity - at the very least, do some serious additions and reinforcing if you don't want the Cummins to make a pretzel outta the stock frame. You might also spend some "quality time" reinforcing crossmembers and attachment points as well...

Ok, so a little update on my poject. I have decided to completley ditch the Chevy frame. So now I want to find a Dodge 3/4 ton or 1 ton frame and mate '64 Cab and bed to the Dodge frame. I think this will be easier then trying to strengthen the Chevy frame. Plus, the Dodge frame will be set-up to use the CTD drivetrain. Anybody got a frame laying around?

You could get a 70's to 80's GM 4x4 frame or 2wd frame

of which will fit the 64 alot easier . I can also help you out with the motor mounts plus i do have a 4x4 chevy frame
