Are the rear shoes the right size . Try this when(only if the parking brake isn't froze up) going down the road push down on the brakes hold them and push down on the parking pedal leave it there give the regular breaks another pump and se if the pedal is better. The adjuster only adjust the bottom of the pads if they have the wrong arch. The parking will hold the top of the pad out for the next pump.

hey guys,

this has worked for me on other occassions with different trucks. bleed the brakes as done before, then jack up the rear of the truck and adjust the rear brake drums until the wheel no longer can be easily spun by hand. then back out the adjuster untill the wheel can just spin freely( you may hear the shoes rub just a littlt in certain spots when the tire is rotated 360*)do this on both sides and that gets all the play out of the rear and eliminated alot of pedal travel for me.

I have looked at power bleeding stuff for a long time, but it had drawbacks for my different applications. one is a tool to allow it to be used on dodge trucks without messing up the PROP vavle.



phillips5 very good suggestion, and i will have to answer. I had no pedal before i looked at the rear brakes like 3 days before i posted this thread. while in the rear brakes i noticed i had adjusted the e brake a bit too tight (last time i did brakes) and it was just barely holding the shoes apart maybe 1/8 or so. So at one time i had good pedal with this setup, and now i cannot find out how to again. I will try it in the way you suggest to see if it helps.

Are you referring to the holding the proportioning valve open so the power bleeder will work?
